PROFILE Mother Russia has oil in her veins, and LUKOIL is holding a needle. Russia's #1 integrated oil company produces, refines, and sells oil and oil products; it accounts for 24% of Russia's crude oil production. LUKOIL has proved reserves of 14.2 billion barrels of oil and 3.6 trillion cu. ft. of gas, more than half of which come from western Siberia. The company has operations in 40 regions in Russia and 25 countries and operates five refineries and more than 2,500 service stations. To better cope with Russia's turbulent economy and compete in world markets, LUKOIL has formed separate businesses for its exploration and production and refining and marketing activities.
