Cigarette Racing Team, Inc.
 PROFILE
Murder, drugs, and fast boats. What more could you want in a sea tale? For Cigarette Racing Team, less of the first two and more sales of the latter. Founded by Don Aronow -- who was gunned down at the behest of a rival boat yard owner in 1987 -- "cigarette boats" has become a generic description for powerful, narrow-bodied speedboats often linked to drug-running. A bona-fide Cigarette costs from $200,000 to $1 million and can reach speeds of 120 mph. Cigarette Racing Team, which has lost more than $8 million since 1994, rebuffed an acquisition offer by Alchemy Holdings in favor of investor Glenn Laken and his LBG Acquisitions.
