Without The Riese Organization, a lot of New Yorkers might go hungry. The company is the largest multiple-franchise operator in New York City, with more than 100 restaurants in the metropolitan area. Along with national brands such as T.G.I. Friday's, Dunkin' Donuts, and Pizza Hut, Riese also develops eateries such as Martini's, an upscale Italian joint, and The Java Shop. The company also provides outdoor advertising and marketing through Riese Media and manages real estate holdings. (Riese's restaurant unit, National Restaurants Management, emerged from Chapter 11 in 2000.) The company was founded by brothers Murray and Irving Riese in 1940. CEO Dennis Riese (Murray's son) controls the company.
