You sit down and start the test. The first problem has a term of
an 'unloaded' spring that you know nothing about. That's alright you suppose and move on.
The second question is rather easy, since the tension in the cable is the same throughout.
You simply set the tension equal to the weight of the fish and move on.
The third problem is disasterous. The picture looks like it has a straight line,
but by the angles involved you determine that this cannot be right.
After you wasted 10 minutes of precious exam time you grudgingly call over a TA.
He says that the apparent straight line was not so. You try to salvage the
problem but you cannot in the remaining time. As you're walking out
you meet up with one of your friends that stayed in the first lecture hall.
He says that the professor clarified the second and third problem. Thinking
back to your test, you realize you would've done much better if you knew!
You are as angry as you've been all semester. You are speechless and decide to
head home.
