Ideas and knowledge, presented publicly in the Communications Age, should be:
1) Malleable. Content should never be static- it should always be a place to hold a discussion.
2) Annotatable (supports Malleable)
3) Distributed (people who have interest in the content, store it). This is obvious- information workers should not be at the mercy of centralization. Centralization makes information fragile- suceptible to the whims of capitalists, server failures, network failures, and censors.
4) Easily stored (local copy) without creating an island (supports "Distributed")
5) many views (chronological, web/wiki, threaded) Data should exist separate from the view.
6) peer based signal/noise filtering.
7) can be ranked / categorized "useful", "interesting", "important", "funny", "confusing", "hateful". Your rankings can be used to find a community of like minded peers who can automatically or deliberately recommend content to you (hello OpenCola).
