On January 1, 2007, at the National
Conference Centre, the atmosphere was celebratory not only because of
the New Year, but also because of a ceremony which thousands of IT
“citizens” had impatiently been waiting for.
Tien Son, a
student, said, "Studying at the Polytechnics University with a major in
IT, I always look at TTVN as a mirror through which I can see and
compare my knowledge and abilities to other students’. TTVN inspires me
to learn and love IT, and to hope that someday, I’ll come here with my
own works."
Mr. Duc Vinh, the director of a company, said,
“TTVN is where young people show what they’re thinking and doing about
IT. I come here with the intention to "get" talents for my company.”
The
ceremony started at 8:05pm with an inspirational song, Discovery, and
two charming and experienced hosts, Lai Van Sam and Tran Lap.
Interesting and fervid performances skillfully woven into the stately
ceremony contributed toward a night of emotion and knowledge. The
climax came when the gold cup was raised high over the victor’s head
and the conference room broke out in applause, happiness and pride. A message of knowledge
At
the ceremony, Vice Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung, said, “I’m so glad
to be here and hand out prizes to these brilliant representatives of
Vietnam’s young generation and knowledge. You take upon yourselves the
burden of striving to create a knowledgeable Vietnam to rival great
countries in the world.”
Chairman of the Vietnamese Labour League Dang Ngoc Tung handed out the Third Prize to Nguyen Van Minh.
The Editor-in-chief of the Labour
newspaper as well as Chairman of the Competition Organisation Board,
Mr. Vuong Van Viet, said, “not only does TTVN encourage these young
people to love IT, it also creates software to solve real-life problems
characteristically Vietnamese, not to mention that it helps young
Vietnamese catch up with international IT.”
The image of Man
searching for fire of the God Sun, the rhythms of the song “Don’t keep
on sitting here,” as well as other artistic performances, all had a
symbolic meaning: one should not just look back, around, or ahead of
Vietnamese knowledge, but look at it from the angle of exploring and
discovering knowledge for the sake of the future and society.
Chairman of the Vietnamese Labour League, Mr. Dang Ngoc Tung:
I was both impressed and satisfied with
the grand and jubilant awards ceremony of Vietnamese Knowledge 2006.
The social meaning of this competition is profound. It is the
encouragement for young people’s creativity and exploration in IT. The
competition and candidates thus contribute greatly toward the
development of communities and society.
Professor Bach Hung Khang, PhD in Science and Chairman of TTVN Judging Committee: This
year’s projects were very different from previous years’. They were
created based on the development of basic technologies currently
available in the world. The works were thus still original. Vuong ba
Quy’s "the mathematic expression compiling, identifying and processing
system” deserved the first prize.
Mr Ha Van An, Vice director of VP Capital: TTVN
has become a valuable and meaningful brand name. Our strategy is to
invest in the development of human talents. So, we made the right
decision to sponsor TTVN. We’ll continue to sponsor the next TTVN
competitions. Not only do we want to grow and develop with TTVN, we
also want to help Vietnamese IT integrate with that of the world.
Phung Tien Cong (Third prize winner in 2001 and 2002): Projects
participating in this year's competition had relatively similar
qualities, so it was difficult to guess who would be the winners. I
think the most important thing is how the winners continue to develop
and apply their projects to real-life situations. It should be noted
that many TTVN candidates have continued to pursue their IT careers and
passions. Hopefully candidates of this year’s competition will follow
this tradition.
Mr. Ha Minh Quoc (62 years old, Kham Thien street, Hanoi): The
awards ceremony was impressive. Though I didn’t understand those
projects very well, I could still appreciate their usefulness to
consumers. I hope I can become familiar with many more of such products
in the future.”
