The 24-year-old is studying database technology at the US school thanks to the Vietnam Education Fund (VEF).
“I
will come back to Vietnam like many other friends, as both
opportunities and challenges are open to young generations today,” says
Quy.
Quy’s
declaration is good news for the local science and technology sector as
many Vietnamese who study abroad find foreign jobs and do not return to
work in Vietnam.
After
displaying virtuoso math skills throughout primary and secondary
school, Quy’s talents were recognized through a scholar-ship to the
Talented Engineers Training Center at the Hanoi University of
Technology in 2001.
Soon
thereafter in 2003, he was awarded a scholarship to study information
technology (IT) at Nanyang Technology University in Singapore.
After leaving his native Hai Phong, northern Vietnam’s largest port city, Quy graduated in Nanyang’s top-five percentile.
He finished his specialized bachelor program in less than four years.
Quy
has participated in six scientific research projects already published
or to be published at IT symposiums in Europe as well as in prestigious
science magazines such as Pattern Recognition Letters.
