In the BitBlaze project, we have built binary analysis tools that enable a suite of different security applications including vulnerability diagnosis and defense, malware analysis, reverse engineering of protocols, etc.. For many of the problem domains, our approaches achieve state-of-the-art results. In tihs talk, I will share the experience gained from the BitBlaze project. In particular, I will talk about components that have enabled the success of the security applications which may be beneficial to other applications as well, outline some challenges and wishlists that would benefit applications to security.
