The Grid as Networking Infrastructure

Abstract

The past several years have seen the rise of Computational Grids as a computing infrastructure. The focus of these developments has been as a means of augmenting the utility of high-end computing resources. However, the Grid can also play a role in increasing the functionality of networking infrastructure as well. In this talk, we review the current status of Grid infrastructure, and illustrate with several examples the role this infrastructure can play in the development of the next generation networking fabric.
