Luggage

Personal Luggage

In 2006 I visited the Czech Republic. I didn't have any real luggage, so I had to grab some. My luggage was in-use in an airliner 12 hours after I purchased it.

I purchased two pieces of luggage that evening before I left. The first piece of luggage looked really good as far as construction, weight, etc goes. However, as I carried it empty out to my vehicle and loaded it in, I found that I didn't like it at all -- and that was before it was loaded with anything. So, back into the store and I returned it.

I happened to stop by Eddie Bauer looking for some inspiration and discovered that they had their own luggage line! The stuff I was looking at was really cool. It was light-weight. It was durable and included a lot of neoprene in its construction so it would stretch instead of break. It has excellent roller wheels. I was sold. I bought it, packed it up, and it was on the DC-9 with me the next morning. The bag has survived my trips to Prague, and it is really a joy to use. The wheels roll, the handles (both fixed and moving) just work and don't break, etc. There are enough handy pockets that can be used with and without openning the suitcase. I was so darn lucky to find a wonderful piece of luggage like this.

When 2007 rolled around, I wanted to have a 2nd piece of luggage to check. I liked my Eddie Bauer luggage so much, I went right to them to get more of the line. Unfortunately, I found that they had discontinued these items! I got a simple duffel, tossed a cardboard box inside it for protection, and went with that to carry the "not breakable" components in my travels.

I had searched quite a bit for this luggage, called Eddie Bauer to try and track more pieces down, but no avail. Finally in 2008, with some more web research, I discovered that my luggage is really manufactured by Skyway Luggage. I hope to track down some another piece of this truely handy luggage for my next trip.
