Midseason Bike News

CronoMetro I do a lot of bicycling. I ride with the UW Cycling Club and the Brazen Dropouts. I ride a little blue Cannondale and a big blue Bridgestone. I used to ride a Trek mountain bike (that was just right) but now someone else is riding it, entirely without my permission.

The Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference racing season is over. I only ended up doing one collegiate event in Indiana. We're right in the middle of the normal USCF season now, though, and I'm all over it, so to speak. I was upgraded to category 3 last fall and did my first cat3 races this spring. They went well for me, mainly due to the excellent training program, designed by Supercoach Ben Francis Miller. Towards the end of the spring semester I got sidetracked by a bunch of things and then caught a nasty virus that messed me up for over a month. Consequently I haven't been, and am not as awesome as one seeing me in the early season might have expected. As a matter of fact, up untill recently, I thouroughly sucked. That's all over now, though, and after I biffed in the Wheels on Willy crit and coughed and wheezed my way through the Memorial Day weekend races in Iowa, I took a week off to heal and then started training like a friggin' maniac!!! again.

So far I haven't achieved any results, but am feeling so much more fit it's incredible. If I can keep it up and loose some weight I could still whoop it up somewhat at Superweek. Speaking of weight, I don't know how I gained so much of it. A couple weeks ago I was at my lowest weight in months (<160lbs), but now I'm back up ~170 consistently! I've been logging miles like a lumberjack, so I guess I need to lay off the Newtons a little (Mmmmm, Newtons).
