Song #7 Round and Round

This one came when I was playing around with a partial capo. Check them out here! It was set on the second fret on the DGB strings. (A position) The chord progression popped some words in and basically the rest was FAWMed. It's about cultivating a personal image for the masses.

I apologize for the guitar sound. It sounded much better on the acousting, but because of a tough micing situation, I had to use a pickup, and it ended up not sounding as good that way.

As always, please forgive the vocals... sinus infection and all that.

Round and round
We’re always going
We’re never showing
But we’re never showing
Who we are

Merry go round
First up then we’re down
Trade a sin for a crown
Then fall to the ground
Not so far

Count the fare
Before the stop
Wave to the crowd
Before the drop
This mirror’s worn out
It’s time to shop
For an image not so clear

Along those lines
In this enterprise
Build powerful size
On elegant lies
To yourself

A crack in the line
A flaw in design
This image’s not mine
The rides out of time
Everyone off

this one is nice, too... but the lyrics need a little work. surprisingly, for being "FAWMed," most of the rhymes do not come across too forced, but they do in the chorus and first stanza (i might suggest dropping the "-ing" from most of the lines and doing "go/show", etc.) this would also make a great slow, dark reverb-y numbers.

This one doesn't keep me interested Eric...it sort of plods along and lyrical matter is sort of veiled and doesn't really resonate with me - there's nothing to relate to in it for me, personally. Maybe it's because I've been listening to this one back to back with Drunk and that song is great.

Ok. I admit this one was only written as an excuse to play with the Partial Capo. It sounds pretty good with the acoustic, but the translation with the pickup made it sound nasty. It seems to make the mids really hot in the mix, and even trying to compensate in eq, it still had an overriding drone note that was obnoxious. The music itself is only the tip of the iceberg. There is a lot of cool stuff I have in mind for this, so don't give up on the music.

The lyrics literally came from one line that I sorta liked, and went down hill from there. My FAWM-derived intentions for the lyrics didn't come to pass. The message I have in mind will get worked out differently, but probably not with this chord progression.

I just wanted to get it out and move on. I spent less than an hour total and most of that was forcing out lyrics,

My own personal score - D-
but it serves as fodder for later work, which is good part of FAWM for me.
