(or "jenny" or "jealous again"...)
burr totally beat me to the drunken bar song, and then to the hasty tribute song to movie jennifer. of course, our jennifers differ in several ways... i had much higher hopes. not even good enough to be called a weird al ripoff.
the haste of the fawm is bringing out the goofy songs in me. usually i write down lots of titles, a majority of them are silly, but most of the silly ones never get written. i've been recording a album-like thing lately collected from the last 4 years of songwriting, and most of the songs are dead-serious.
jennifer
i will throw my voice in with
the very vocal global chorus
saying you'd be wise to thank your lucky stars
you found a man and for the most part
every man is made the same but, jenny,
some men come from from different parts of mars
maybe it's been blown out of proportion
maybe he's a man and not a god
maybe you've done deeds i haven't seen
thereby earning that fantastic hunk of fortune
that you've got
i'd just like to say that i've been watching
ever since he did those great montana movies
all those years ago
and by association, now i'm almost
as obsessed with you, but still your role
will always be a cameo... a sideshow
baby, i say more power to you
baby, you got something goin' on
baby, i've no doubt he's got his reasons,
and it's true: you've come a long long way
since "leprechaun"
i could do without friends
i could do without friends
i could do without friends
i could do without friends
i should end with an apollygy
to elvis and to tutone and to you all
for the ending of this song
i wouldn't argue if you argued
this is utter sacrilege, you know,
my hand was forced when polly came along

on jennifer's behalf, she has a big role in one of my most favorite comedies of all time - Office space, but now that I think about it, she's not that funny in it, but everyone else is...ha ha, funny ending. you make some fine points in the lyrics and put a voice to what as you say is a "very vocal global chorus"...however, the song itself I would tire of given time...just my 2 cents.

i'm not so sure how tiring this would get if it were arranged and recorded right. maybe, but i dunno.
sorry to rain on your parade twice, there, willis. ;)

recorded right?!?

and i'm not against jennifer at all. whatever makes him happy.
i liked her in "bruce almighty" and "office space", though she was unspectacular. and i seem to recall thinking that "the good girl" was maybe kinda brilliant. haven't seen "along came polly" yet.

I think Burr is referring to spending $60K to produce the song with Brian Wilson, agonizing over every minor detail until a masterpiece emerges...
