numero 14 - Michelada
WMA file here

from early on, i planned to write one song in spanish. and i decided on this topic weeks ago. but i put it off because... well, my spanish isn't very good, so i figured i'd have to put significant effort into it.

this is mostly a true story pulled from my holidays in mexico two months ago.

i've taken some liberties with details... geographical, emotional, linguistical.

Michelada

en la playa del lago
en la tierra del Zapata
en el estado de Jalisco
conocí a mi Michelada

    ¡aaaaay, Michelada!
el sabor me has dado a mí
    ¡aaaaay, Michelada!
    estás tan lejos de aquí

yo estaba al sur de la frontera
abandonado por una diablita
dejado por la pinche güera
muy perdido sin señorita

    ¡aaaaay, Michelada!
    geografía hace pared
    ¡aaaaay, Michelada!
    ahorita tengo mucha sed

llegué allá del valle
mi corazon viejo lloraba
te compré en el lado de la calle
y me diste lo que necesitaba

    ¡aaaaay, Michelada!
    embriagadora y refrescante
    ¡aaaaay, Michelada!
tu olor y sabor muy picante

    ¡aaaaay, Michelada!
el sabor me has dado a mí
    ¡aaaaay, Michelada!
    estás tan lejos de aquí

i have no idea what you're saying OR singing (again, @ work... no WMA capabilities). but i'm jealous that you pulled this off... all month i wanted to write a song in french (ma langue de coeur), but just didn't get it done. congrats.

uhm... did you intend a pun with "michelada"? sounds kinda like "mi helado"... "el sabor me has dado a mí" kinda tipped me off. ;)

mi helada !
i hadn't thought of that, but now i may have to write another verse. i consulted my spanish teacher today, and she corrected a few prepositions and articles. so i may redo the vocal track tonight.
