Abstract: In this report, we study the problem of implementing the storage manager for a large webpage repository and information retrieval system. We discuss the essential characteristics and propose alternative architectures. We focus on how to combine the traditional techniques to meet the specific requirement. To evaluate design alternatives, we also present the experimental results from a Java prototype.
