This experiment is designed to test your ability to categorize a series of animal noises. For the purposes of this experiment, you'll be listening to a series of animal vocalizations made on another planet. These recordings are of two creatures that can be found on the planet: the Snark and the Boojum.
Over the course of the experiment, you will encounter four main sections: an introduction, a quiz, field research, and a follow-up quiz.
The introduction will present to you the vocalizations of both a Snark and a Boojum that researchers have captured in the field. These examples will consist of both the vocalization itself and the type of the creature that made the vocalization.
After listening to each creature's vocalizations a few times, the quiz will test whether you've learned to distinguish between the two animals. Before the quiz, the instructions will be given. Please take care to note them.
Following the quiz, you'll be allowed to listen to a number of animal calls recorded in the wild. You won't be asked to do anything during this stage, but please pay attention to the animal calls as you hear them.
Finally, before I let you go, I'll ask you to take another quiz, similar to the first. As before, instructions will be given before the quiz itself begins.
And, finally, please take this test seriously. The entire experiment should take no longer than 15 minutes, but interruptions during that interrim would significantly negatively impact the findings of the experiment. If you are interrupted during the test and lose your concentration, please do not continue the test. Furthermore, do not take this test multiple times. It is only intended to be taken once.
