How Do I Join?

Just follow the PTLaw Email List link. You can join the list from there and then you're automagically in the group.

Why?

Part Time students face many difficulties in sucessfully completing law school.

• Balancing part time school with other full time issues.
• Starting Law School after being a 'real person.'
• Meeting people. It's hard when you're only in the building for evening classes and you don't have the same free time as everyone else.
• Inability to join clubs or become an intern/extern/clinic person. And in all other ways, scheduling conflicts.
• Difficultly searching for classes at available times.

Social Activities

Getting together for meeting/support group. Perhaps even with beer and most likely not on campus. See Events for currently planned activities.

Class Scheduling Suggestions

Class Scheduling is probably the most important issue for PT students. The current schedulers definitely keep us in mind (as legally proscribed - see the Links/Resources page for specifics), but if we worked directly with them, schedules could rely less on guesswork and more on suggestions after we determine our actual needs.

Current plans:

• develop web-based survey to determine which classes are needed at which times
• request as a group that some evening summer class is offered - perhaps longer then the usual 5-week session
• request a course outline for the most important issues/topics covered for any skipped 1L course

Student Orientation

Prospective and Admitted PT students need encouraging, too. It would be good to talk to them and show them that there is now a community and knowledge base available.
