Wisconsin Idea

The Wisconsin Idea Project

To us the Wisconsin Idea is a way to give back the knowledge gained through the University of Wisconsin to the public. The University receives a large amount of aid from the state of Wisconsin and it's taxpayers and the Wisconsin Idea is a way to give back and make the world a better place on a local, state, national, and international level.

Topic

We choose this topic because neither of us had been exposed to computer programming prior to taking CS 302 and believed that the information provided would be useful to high school and incoming college students to give a good background of what Computer Science is all about. We both wished we had been exposed to this prior to enrolling in CS 302 and hope it helps aid our target audience with course and career decisions.

Target Audience

The project is target toward high school and incoming college students with zero to limited exposure to computer science topics.

Description

We chose to include two slideshows explaining the relevance of Computer Science and Java programming. These slideshows were meant to introduce viewers to Computer Science topics and show them what can be done with experience in Computer Science and Java. We also included a brief video explaining how to create a basic "Hello World" program in Eclipse that walks viewers through creating their first program.
