How does the computer understand the codes and run the programs?

What Wisconsin Idea means to our group:

For us, Wisconsin Idea is to encourage of sharing the knowledge we learn from College with the general public, especially the knowledge the public pay less attention at.

Topic

How the codes that programmers write are translated into the computer so that computers can understand it and run the programs

Reason: After researches on websites and discussion in the team, we find CS is hardly the topic of conversation for the general public mainly for two reasons:

1. People consider computer as a black box. How computer works is not as important as how to use it for the public in their daily lives.
2. People usually think the concept of computer is too difficult (including complex math, physics, etc.), and therefore, they are afraid of not being able to understand it.
