List of Papers Accepted
The technical program will consist of high quality contributed papers on all
aspects of computer vision and pattern recognition. Original
(previously unpublished) manuscripts on topics in the following
categories are solicited:
- Segmentation, Grouping
- Physics-based Vision
- Low-Level Processing
- Texture Analysis
- Pattern Analysis
- Motion Analysis
- Integration of Modules and Cues
- Shape and Object Representation
- Object Recognition
- Learning in Computer Vision
- Active and Real-Time Vision
- Multi-Sensor Image Analysis
- Applications
The conference is not limited to these topics. If a paper is not exactly
on a topic in one of these categories, it may be specified that the
paper falls in two or more categories, or that the paper is perhaps
best not categorized at all. The categories are designed to closely
match the papers with the expertise of the reviewers who will be
members of the Program Committee. Every category will be represented
by several Program Committee members. As is customary with CVPR,
reviewing will be double-blind.
- Festschrift for Azriel Rosenfeld (Monday evening)
There will be a reception honoring Azriel Rosenfeld on the occasion of
his 65th birthday on Monday evening, June 17 at 6 p.m. in the Pink Pearl
Room at the Hotel Nikko. Included in the ceremony will be the
announcement of a new book entitled
Advances in
Image Understanding: A Festschrift for Azriel Rosenfeld
that contains contributions
from many people in the field.
- PAMI Technical Committee Meeting (Tuesday evening)
There will be a meeting of the
PAMI Technical Committee
on Tuesday evening, June 18 at 9 p.m. in the Nikko 2 Room at the Hotel Nikko.
See the tentative agenda for the meeting.
- Banquet and Cruise on San Francisco Bay (Wednesday evening)
The conference banquet will be a cruise on San Francisco Bay on
Wednesday evening, June 19. Buses will depart the hotel about 6:30 p.m.,
and the cruise is from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. Note: Student registration
does not include a ticket for this banquet. Be sure to bring a
jacket or sweater along since most evenings on the bay are quite cool.
- U.C. Berkeley Computer Vision Open House (Thursday evening)
On Thursday, June 20 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. the University of California, Berkeley
will host a
computer vision open house
for CVPR '96 participants. The open house will be held in Soda Hall,
home of the Computer
Science Department at U.C. Berkeley. A wide variety of posters, videos and live demos will be on
display to illustrate the ongoing research being carried out by members of the
U.C. Berkeley
Computer Vision Group.
A new feature this year will be a demonstration program where individuals
can show off their latest systems in action! The

Please note that you must have a Web browser capable of

registrations. Your credit card information will be verified, and you
will receive an electronic registration confirmation. A hardcopy

To qualify for advance registration discounts, your registration must
be received by mail, fax, or the Web with payment by May 17.
Registrations received from
May 18 to 31 will be charged the late registration rate. Those
received after May 31 will not be acknowledged and must be
resubmitted for processing on site at the conference.
Attendees who register in advance can pick up their conference
materials at the Hotel Nikko beginning June 16.
Full conference registration includes all conference sessions,
conference proceedings, reception, refreshment breaks, banquet and
entertainment. Student registration does not include the banquet.
Undergraduate registration does not include the banquet
and does not include a copy of the proceedings.
To qualify for the member discounts, include your current IEEE or IEEE
Computer Society membership number on the registration form.
International attendees can register in advance and pay by wire
transfer for an additional processing fee of $25. Wire transfers must
be received by May 31. Wire transfers will not be accepted at on-site

- The official airline for CVPR '96 is
United Airlines. Attendees
can obtain a 5% discount off ticket fares at the
time of purchase, or a 10% discount off of fares in effect
when tickets are purchased 7 days in advance.

many downtown areas such as the business district and the Moscone
Convention Center.

- Richelieu Hotel
- Built in 1908, the Richelieu Hotel is a charming Victorian style
hotel, and is
located six blocks from the Hotel Nikko. A block of rooms is being
held for student attendees. Rate is $69 plus 12% tax.

- Housing at University of California, Berkeley
- A block of 70 rooms at the University of California,
Berkeley, will be available at the Summer Visitor Housing,
2424 Channing Way, Berkeley. Rooms will be held until May 24;
after that date rooms may be reserved on a space available basis.
- Transportation from Berkeley to the conference is the
responsibility of the individual (contact Conference Services
at the address below for information on this). The subway, called
BART,
can be used, for example, by going from the Berkeley station to
the Powell St. station via the Richmond-Daly City Line, taking 25 minutes.
