Research Interests

I'm interested in artificial intelligence, specifically machine learning and its applications to natural language processing. Generally, I want to see how we can further computers' ability to learn how to "understand" the world, make predictions, and execute tasks. A subarea that is particularly appealing to me is that of transfer learning, or how we can get computers to apply smaller subtasks to larger, more complex goals.
About Me

I'm a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, working with Professor Jude Shavlik. I received my Bachelors in Computer Science at Bryn Mawr College, PA in 2009. When I'm not thinking and learning about how computers learn, I like to bike, ski, and write the occasional poem.
