Spacemen 3 - Perfect Prescription
Taang! (USA)

I've recently become infatuated with 80s/early 90s British rock (a la "shoegazing"). This is just one of the albums that I picked up in connection with my fascination. I had already had my hands around a couple of Spiritualized discs as well as Spectrum's first (Soul Kiss (Glide Divine)), and as I had dug on these records, as well as Spacemen 3's final offering, Recurring, it seemed time to move in for the kill. And slay this record does. The liner notes tell the story of an unfortunate individual who hit a tree while intoxicated and whose only real concern was getting his cassette copy of this album out of his totaled tape deck. That's about right. This is really a captivating disc. The repetitive song structures that have come to dominate the sound of members Pete "Sonic Boom" Kember and Jason Pierce are here in spades. Playing with Fire is also highly recommended, as is the presently out of print Recurring.
