Doll and Toy Museum

Given my interests, one place in Vienna that I really wanted to see was the Doll and Toy Museum. The items on display used to be a private collection of dolls, dollhouses, and toys from the last two centuries. Now it is open to the public. This page shows a bunch of the things that you can see there.
Captions are given below each photo and you can click on a thumbnail to get a larger view of each picture.
A doll's dollhouse. A school room box. A store in a room box, along with a bunch of miniature food. A bedroom from a large dollhouse. The dining room from the same dollhouse.
The front of the dollhouse, from an angle. The open back of the dollhouse. I thought these ugly dog things were the cutiest! A bunch of doll accessories. I love some of the intricate clothing on these dolls.
A doll and his horse. This soldier doll has two sides to his head, one with dark hair and one with light. I don't know who these guys are but they reminded me of the little rascals. Kewpie (sp?) dolls. Little Bo Peep (maybe :) ).
I felt sort of bad for this doll as she has an entire umbrella between her body and her head. One special part of the collection at the museum is the set of rare "exotic" dolls. This is a third of the collection. Here is another third of the rare "exotic" dolls collection. Here is the remaining third of the rare "exotic" dolls collection. Little tiny porcelain dining set. The craftsmanship is amazing.
A puppet set. I thought this was a neat old building blocks set that might be cool to reproduce in miniature for my dollhouse. Another intricate set of clothing. Remember when you were little and you had books where you pulled a string on the side and it talked!?! Well, this is one from the 1800's. I didn't realize they existed so long ago. Here is a close up of the strings that you pull on the side of the book.
A collection of small toys. The same collection without the camera flash. An old paper doll set.
