Kunsthistorisches Museum

Here are some pictures of the inside of the Kunsthistorisches Museum (i.e. the art history museum) in Vienna. Some of the images are not as clear as I would have liked. Unfornately, you can't use your flash inside the museum (yes, yes, I know...that helps preserve the art) and in some of the pictures I upped the exposure time. I guess I'm not very good at holding the camera still for that long :)
Captions are given below each photo and you can click on a thumbnail to get a larger view of each picture.
A statue on the first floor outside the Egyptian Wing. The ceiling in the entrance of the building. A statue on the landing between the first and second floors. Some of the detail on the walls of the staircase. That statue on the landing again. It is sort of a center piece for the whole museum.
A lion on the railing of the staircase. Detail from the ceiling of one of the many rooms full of art. Standing on the landing between the first and second floors, looking towards the entrance. Some of the second floor. The ceiling above the staircase. I wish it hadn't come out so blurry.
Quicktime Movie Directory
Looking towards that central statue again, this time from the third floor (With flash, oops!) The same picture, without flash. Does that make up for my mistake? A small, low-quality quicktime movie showing one of the many rooms full of art.
Here are some pictures of the art inside the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Sorry, I'm not even going to try to label these. Really I just took the photos to remember the images that made an impression on me - and I'm horribly bad at names.
I thought this was great. Did you know that the Egyptians mummified gators!?!
They mummified little tiny ones too.
