Maria-Theresia-Platz

Here are some pictures of the Maria-Theresia-Platz. On the south and north ends of the square are the Kunsthistorisches Museum (i.e. the art history museum) and the Naturhistorisches Museum (i.e. the natural history museum). The two buildings are almost identical. They are not exact twins only because of the engravings and art on the outside of the buildings.
Captions are given below each photo and you can click on a thumbnail to get a larger view of each picture.
A horse statue at the entrance to the square. A second horse statue on the other side of the entrance In the center of the square, there is a huge statue of Maria Theresia clutching the Pragmatic Sanction of 1713 that allowed women to succeed to the throne. This picture is of one side of the base of the statue, which dipicts her generals. Another side of the base of the statue with more of Maria Theresia's generals. And more generals on the base of the statue.
Finally, the last of the generals. And there is Maria Theresia herself with the Pragmatic Sanction. The square is partitioned into four quadrants, each of which has a fountain in the middle. Here is one of them. The second fountain. The third fountain.
