Description

Quake Arena Arcade continues the tradition of online multiplayer shooters set by its predecessor, Quake III: Arena, adding a fresh coat of HD paint and new maps exclusive to the Xbox 360 console.

The aim of each game is to outlast your opponents and obtain the most 'frags', points obtained by downing a foe. You can do so in free for all or team based multiplayer modes, while capture the flag and harvester modes are also available. A variety of weapons are at your disposal including the trusty Rocket Launcher, Lightning Gun, the sniper like Rail Gun and the deadly BFG. Among the various game maps, players can pickup health and armour boosts, along with extra upgrades that can improve speed of movement and the amount of damage given. The maps themselves also include teleporters and jump pads, underground and lava filled tunnels leading from one side of the arena to the next.

On Xbox Live, up to 16 players can compete online. A single player campaign mode is also included, combining most of the online game modes as well as boss battles and challenges. You can add AI bots to any multiplayer session as well as create a practice session if you need to improve your skills, or change up the control scheme to suit your needs and choose a character skin to stand out from the crowd.

Trivia

Xbox Live Release

Pi Software were originally ready to release the game back over a year before its eventual release. The delay was largely caused by the acquisition of id Software by Zenimax Media (owners of Fallout 3 creators Bethesda Softworks) in June 2009.
