Description

Beneath the Earth a strange creature lives... Whakman!

Whakman is a side scrolling platform game where the goal is to get to the end of each stage while collecting yellow gold pieces. Whakman's means of getting around (aside from the usual rolling) are jumping, bouncing and dashing. Dashing is used both to gain some extra speed, but also to destroy the ghosts he comes across in the underground sewers where he resides. If Whakman jumps on top of a ghost he gains extra altitude, which can be used to reach higher platforms. Other hazards, such as spikes, are strewn across the levels as well. The game doesn't use extra lives, instead there is a death count to see how many times Whakman died during the course of the level. By performing well in the stages awards are unlocked as the player progresses.

There is a total of 18 levels for Whakman to get through.

In the credits section of the game Jens Andersson (the programmer) gives some background to the game:

This game first started as a work test for GRIN. I actually got hired there as a gameplay programmer but the studio closed down the very same day I began.

You could say this is the final version of a work test for a studio I never had a chance to work with. Enjoy
