Description

Wizorb is a Breakout/Arkanoid action game (bounce an orb off a magic wand to break bricks), with a sprinkle of a Japanese-style RPG. Besides breaking bricks, there are monsters to kill, spells to cast and power-ups to buy. In total, there are about 60 levels on 5 worlds, plus some extra secret levels for good measure. Next to the classic gameplay, the player has access to a magic bar with limited supply to destroy bricks with fireballs. Other spells cause the ball movement pattern to reverse or offers the player to teleport the ball to any location on the field. Items such as coins, additional magic and lives are gathered by what the bricks leave behind. Monsters move between the bricks and can cause the ball to bounce in an unexpected direction. Buttons can be pressed to open up bonus areas or shops. Shops offer additional lives, full magic or a magnet that causes the ball to stick. While playing the ball speed is increased with each bounce. When it drops from the bottom of the screen, the gameplay is restarted and the player gets to decide the direction to launch the ball. The player starts with three lives and a limited amount of continues. When they are used up, additional continues can be bought, but they eat up a lot of money.

Music and graphics are very "low-res", giving this an old NES retro feel. The game is set in the Kingdom of Gorudo that is threatened by an evil presence. The player controls Cyrus, a wizard who controls the magic known as Wizorb. Locations he visits include Clover Town, Gorudo Castle and Cauldron Peak. The town acts as a hub where various characters can be met. Money can be donated to them to receive a reward in return.
