Henry Vilas Zoo - 24 September 2000

This is the Zoo in Madison...amazingly, it's free to the public. Also surprising is how cold it was here today and yet all these African natives were out. You could actually see the tiger's breath.

The next two came out a bit dark...they were taken from inside the primate center.

A ring-tailed lemur with snack in hand:

The next thing I saw is a Grandma favorite...so I took an extra picture of these guys for her:

In the same area were these storks, in the usual stork position:

Next up were the tigers:

And one of them came right up to us and layed down. That's when I got this close-up:

A camel:

This guy refused to go inside and get his dinner:

An elk, who was hanging out with a bunch of mallard ducks that you probably can't see:

There was a make-shift mountain out of boards, and these guys were all playing "King of the Mountain" on it. Here's an action shot:

And last but not least, some polar bears...including the laziest guy in the whole zoo:
