Bob Dylan at the Kohl Center - Madison, WI - October 29, 2000

I almost didn't make it to the show...thought I might have had too much work or whatnot. But I decided this was a once-in-a-lifetime type chance to see a real legend, so I snuck over to what I think is one of the coolest looking buldings on campus to catch the show (It's called the Kohl Center and is just a five minute walk from where I live.) Tickets were far from sold out, and I managed to get some pretty close. Unfortunately, as you'll see, I was off to the side and had some stuff in my line of sight. Still, not too shabby! This show kicked off Bob Dylan's tour.

As for music, we got some good tunes. Of those I recognized (and it's a bit hard to I have to admit...he tinkers with them an awful lot, and his voice isn't always what it used to be), we heard: Tangled Up In Blue (really good), Like A Rolling Stone, Forever Young, All Along The Watchtower, and Highway 61.

Here is the "ultra-cool" Kohl Center. Wisconsin plays its hockey games here:

And here's the band. Bob can still rock, but you have to wonder if he's still enjoying himself. I didn't see him smile once, the whole night. He didn't anything but "Thanks" once in while either:

Kicking off the fourth song in the show with his electric guitar. I think there was a time when that would have caused an outrage, but everyone was all right with it tonight.

Here's Bob, "gettin' down" (but still not smiling!):

This was kind of weird...at the end of their set, and at the end of the encore, the whole band just stands up and faces the crowd as the crowd cheers. They don't smile or acknowledge the crowd at all. Next thing you know, they're gone. And so it was, and the concert was over.

A cool poster from the show...it makes sure to note that Bob'll be there "in person"! (And yes, he did break out the harmonica once...it was great!)
