Our first stop in Arches National Park.A not-so-unusual formation in Arches.Kacey's first arch! (Scot had a previous Arches visit)
A narrow path leading to Sandstone Arch. This was our neatest stop in the park.Sandstone Arch - not very impressive, but the sand and the shade were wonderful. The best sand we have ever been in.
A distant arch we decided not to hike to.The most famous arch, Delicate Arch, is on the Utah license plates.A distant rock formation from the road - this made the hot drive through Arches more bearable.
A collection of arches and windows.Keyhole Arch, as viewed from North Window. One of the largest windows, there is some good (and not very safe) bouldering here :)
The first bridge in Natural Bridges NM.A very old, and soon to collapse (geologically speaking), bridge in Natural Bridges. Our first sight of Lake Powell from the eastern end. The lake was created by the Glen Canyon dam.
We got lucky to catch the last ferry across Lake Powell. It reached 100 degress while waiting for the ferry. From the ferry, a few of the hundreds of houseboats that are bouyed near Halls Crossing.
The Lake Powell water was a perfect measure against the hundred degree weather. We swam out to a small island (rock?) and sunbathed.Another shot of the rock. Our campsite for the night. Lake Powell is seen in the background.
