We crossed the Puget Sound on the Edmonds-Kingston ferry north of Seattle. The Seattle skyline across the Sound.A closer up view of Seattle's skyline, as seen through a windshield from I-5.
My parents were keen on returning to Pike Place Market before their flight, so this was our first stop upon arriving in Seattle.A 3-foot tall pepper creation in the market. The view across Puget Sound from the end of the market. The water is gourgeous, but there is a lot in the way.
The "flying fish" stand in Pike Place Market. I got to witness a woman splashed with bits of halibut directly in front of me.A view of the market from the roof of our nearby parking garage.Seattle skyline.
A central square at the University of Washington. The building on the far end of the square is the ?? Library. The reading room in the library feels like the Harry Potter Great Hall. The "other" UW's central quad is flanked by the dormitories, quite a neat design given Wisconsin's strange setup.
We took a break from driving at the Gingko Petrified Forest State Park in central Washington. We were hoping for something similar to Arizona's Petrified Forest NP, and were instead treated to unidentifiable masses protected by metal grates. This was the second most disappointing stop, ranking just ahead of Point Reyes.
