Melody Bakken started working at UW Madison in October 1975
in the accounting department at the UW Press. She worked at
The Press until December 1998. At that time she transferred
to the Computer Sciences Department to fill the recently created
position of grants manager. She moved into the position of Computer
Sciences Department Manager upon the retirement of Marie Johnson
in January 2003.
Melody is in charge of:
- Supervision of the administrative support staff
- Departmental administrative duties
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals
- PVL's for new hires and appointment letters
- Monitor departmental accounts
- Visa Applications (J1, H1-B & Permanent Residence)
- Miscellaneous jobs to numerous to mention!
Hobbies are reading, gardening and spending time in their cabin in northern Wisconsin
Family includes her husband Steve and sons Brandon,wife Melanie and grandson Brayden,
and Nick and his wife Elizabeth, 2 cats and fish.
