Shane MacGowan and Shanne Bradley started the Nipple Erectors at the back end of the punk days of 1977.

Shane, ever ready to mix his musical influences with whatever was going down on the street at the time, pulled 'Punkabilly' out of the bag; a reconciliation of the Punky/Teddy Boy battles of the era, his own fascination with 50's Rock & Roll and his experience of high profile ligging at many of the best punky parties in town.

'King Of The Bop' was the band's first single, coming out on Soho Records in June 1978.

"I can do the bop,
I can do the jerk
I can do anything
but do a bit of work:

Sums it up nicely, don't you think?

'Nervous Wreck' was the B-side of the 'King Of The Bop' single. Stavordale Road, N5' and 'So Pissed Off' were recorded at the same session but have never before been released.

'All The Time In The World'/'Private Eye' sees the name change to plain 'Nips', due to the usual hassle from the professional hypocrites who insist on having their 2ps worth out of everything from pop music to pot noodles.

The new style on the single shows up Shane's ever changing moods - this time the nod is in the direction of The Pretty Things.

Unfortunately 'all the time in the world' was exactly what we did not have, and when the next single, the much more pop-styled 'Gabrielle' failed to make the breakthrough the band had hoped for, that was that, and this is this.

Enjoy.
