There is no God. Therefore "God" can have nothing to do with it. This is an opinion, but it is an opinion about a fact. If you believe there is a God, and attach any importance to this belief, then you are as much in disagreement with me as I am with you.

If you adhere to any sort of religion I will still try to respect you for your good qualities. But I cannot respect your religious beliefs; you, by definition, do not respect my irreligious beliefs.

Any religion that wishes to take credit for the good things done in its name must also take responsibility for the bad things done in its name. The hypothesis that the world would be worse without religion is as untestable as the hypothesis that it would be better.
