The Collected Wisdom MagicTalk

A Tribute to Olde Rabbit (John Evernden)

Welcome to The Collected Wisdom of MagicTalk!

MagicTalk is a wonderful web discussion forum where magicians of all ability levels discuss every aspect of magic, from getting started, to reviews of various books and effects, to being a professional magician.

Since I began reading MagicTalk, I have realized that there is a lot of wisdom among the various people that post. MagicTalk doesn't have a long-term archival system, so I have begun saving selected posts from MagicTalk as a partial archive. This archive can be browsed, just to learn more about magic, or it can be used as a sort of FAQ to refer people to when they ask a commonly asked question. There is getting to be a fair amount of information here; you might try using your browser's "Find" function to help you look for specific topics of interest to you.

How should you use this web page? When you have a question, this should be just the beginning of the research to your answer, not the end. In these pages, you will find loads of advice, but not much guidance on which advice is good and which advice is bad. This is a general problem on the Internet, and it is no different here. For each bit of advice you read, carefully evaluate it, research it further, experiment on your own, and eventually come to your own conclusions. Do no accept anything here as true and correct.

If a recent conversation on MagicTalk strkes you as particularly useful, please point it out to me by sending me email at alain.roy @ pobox.com (remove the spaces from around the @ sign), and I will place it on this web site. If I have placed a post of yours here, and you would rather that I remove it, please let me know and I will do so right away.
