I put this page up after finding many small but interesting places in the
Bay Area that aren't really well documented. These places are ordered at
random and maybe some day I'll organize them.
My favorite San Francisco restaurants
Pizza-n-Go: Misnomer for a fabulous Middle Eastern restaurant
This is THE best place to eat Falafel. Food is cheap and delicious and
there's a fabulous buffet.
This is in Santa Clara. I forgot the directions. I think you go down San
Tomas Expressway till you reach El Camino. Take a left (East) and you should
see it on your left beyond Starbucks (on your right). You need to make a
U-turn to reach it.
North Beach, San Francisco: Best Italian food
I have had the best Italian food in the restaurants in North Beach. Plenty of
restaurants in the area. I don't remember the one I liked.
Indian food
Swagat on El Camino in Palo Alto has very good South Indian food. Pasand, at
the intersection of El Camino and Lawrence has good South Indian food as well.
For North Indian food, Paradise of India on El Camino in Mt. View is the
best. My absolute favorite is Gaylord's on El Camino near Stanford.
Burmese restaurants
Sausalito
Many wonderful places in Sausalito to have lunch - the view is spectacular from
places.
Joe's Grill, Napa downtown
In downtown Napa.
Best pizza I've ever eaten. Try the personal pizza with spinach.
Cafe Verona, Palo Alto
Excellent Italian food. Great place to have lunch and I really like their
display at the counter where you order food. You can see precisely
what you are ordering. It's also close to a parking garage in Palo Alto which
is a blessing if you've ever tried finding street parking around that area.
The address is 236 Hamilton Ave., Palo Alto, CA 94301.

Cool places to hike - photos to appear soon...
Los Tranchos, San Andreas fault
Los Tranchos open space reserve is a great place to hike. It's best to
go there late in the evening when the clouds are rolling in so that you
can stand among the clouds and feel them rush by you. You can see signs
of the San Andreas fault line. There's a trail with markers to explain
all you ever wanted to know about faults and such things. I saw signs about
rattlesnakes and mountain lions but didn't see any on the trail.
To get there, take Page Mill Expwy. west for 7 miles beyond 280. The road
is winding and goes up 2200 feet. There are breathtaking vista points along
the way from where you can see the entire Bay Area. A binoculars is a must.
Sawyer Camp Trail
On 280, take the Millbrae Ave. exit. Park under the freeway and walk to
Sawyer Camp trail. This trail is paved and crowded compared to other trails.
A relatively easy trail, it goes past Crystal lake.
Sweeny Ridge Trail
On 280 North, take the exit to 35 (Skyline Blvd.) near San Bruno. Then drive
for 2-3 miles until you reach Sneath Lane (left at the traffic light when
travelling north on 35). Sneath Lane seems to go on forever. Follow it until
you reach Sweeny Ridge. Sweeny Ridge is a moderately difficult trail but
the view from the top is great. Take some people with you - it seemed like a very
lonely trail.
