    Perfect for first timers. Me and my friend rented their small power boat today and it was such an amazing experience.. they guide you through every thing (it was pretty simple actually) and we even got to do a small loop to get familiar with boat before our actual (1.5 hour) time started. Best time to go is early morning when water is little stable.. and its kind of quiet.
    Place is little hard to find... look for Parasailing Boat Rentals sign instead of MDR boat rentals.. We are going again next weekend again and this time for Jet Skie... Can't wait :) If you are riding a boat first time, go for an hour and half atleast.. if jet skie.. i think an hour should be enough.

    CUSTOMERS, BEWARE OF THIS OWNER MARK! As I was getting to write a review, I briefly checked to see what criticisms other 1 star reviews had, and guess what, they were pretty much the same! I highly suggest you look at the negative reviews, as you will see a running theme: the owner Mark screaming at people on their way back, blaming them (while blatantly lying) they screwed up various parts of the boat and using the contract they signed at the beginning to threaten to sue them if they don't pay what HE "thinks" the "damage" was. This all happened to us and ruined an otherwise perfect day, but needless to say we went there once and will never be back. And I won't stop telling people about this scam artist. I have also reported him with Better Business Bureau, Ripoff Report and we are considering filing a lawsuit. Yes, that's how fraudulent his behavior was and we have all the proof we need (videos, pictures, and witnesses). And did I mention my husband who was yelled at is a litigation attorney?

    Long story short, we rented a boat from this place a few weeks ago for two hours and on our way back, the owner Mark and one of his employees started SCREAMING AT us as we were approaching, and I'm talking screaming at 25 yards away. Once we arrived, he alleged we BROKE the passenger window and that he would end up charging my husband $3000 to replace it as he had his credit card on file. The window was NOT broken, it looked like it slightly came out of its bracket and could have easily been readjusted with a little pressure. Mind you, we took pictures before leaving the dock and the window looked the exact same, i.e. it needed to be readjusted even BEFORE we got on. I urged my husband to let Mark charge whatever he "feels" appropriate and we will fight him in court but after talking to my husband, the owner Mark ended up "offering" to charge him "only" $500, and once he "takes the boat to the repair shop" he will give my husband whatever the difference was should it cost less than the $500 he stole from us. And we never heard back since.

    While waiting for his call, and curious as to what the window adjustment fee was my husband personally called Grady White, the manufacturer of the boat, and spoke with multiple experts who ALL confirmed that the window coming loose from the bracket is a common ordinary wear and tear occurrence on this boat, and that it is simply remedied by applying simple pressure to the window to return it to its bracket. We weren't even responsible for this happening, yet were lied to and stolen from despite all the evidence. How is this fair to American consumers?

    His main business is comprised of tourists; Mark does not rely on repeat business and therefore takes whatever he can get as he knows he will never see them again. Mark, you were unfair to righteous people who won't take sh*t from anyone. I will certainly keep speaking up about your fraudulent practices.

    Just rented jet ski's and had the best time of my life!!  so much fun.  it was pretty crowded at the kiosk but they were all very friendly and efficient while having us fill out paperwork - we even had to learn the rules (i.e. we were QUIZZED on them before being allowed to play).  they make sure you're prepared for the rules of the water and how to respect other boats in the area.  they gave us great instructions on how to use the jet ski (it was my first time driving one) which made me feel comfortable.  had such a blast.  we even got some pictures taken for their social media (i hope we come up - i love a good professional photo).  definitely recommend this place and experience.  i want to come back every weekend!

    I have come here a few times. Today was a very pleasant experience. The staff is always friendly and no issues at all. Book in advance and visit the website so you know what you want. Come early and get in line (today was a breeze). Don't forget to take pictures in case damage is reported. Most importantly... Have fun!

    We rented a boat to enjoy the day with the family. However, the weather wasn't so into that plan. We rented the Montauk for 2 hours but 30 min into the ride we were forced to return. Jennifer took care of us and bent the rules on their credit policy. I've very pleased with this place and will for sure Be renting here again  soon. Thanks Jennifer.

    I was looking forward to spending the day with some friends on a boat.  Everything was fine until we came back to dock.  The owner is out of his mind.  He belongs in an asylum for the way he yells at people.  I've never experienced such crappy customer service ANYWHERE.

    As I pulled the boat up to the dock, you could tell he was agitated with whatever group he was preparing for sea.  The wind started to push the boat towards the dock and the other boats.  He starts yelling at us and starts throwing "F bombs at" us.  We had 4 small children on the boat.  Class act.  He then starts threatening us to buy him a new boat if anything happens to it?!?!?  This guy should NOT be renting boats to people, but somehow he's in the business of renting boats to anyone.  Does this make sense?

    As we got out of boat (unharmed), we were reassured by his employees that he's "crazy and a terrible person".  We feel sorry for his employees as I'm sure they see this daily.  Having a bad boss is stressful.  There is no reason this guy should be rewarded with more business. I for one will be advising all my connections to stay clear away.

    We came here for Valentine's Day for an afternoon picnic on a boat.  We made a reservation for 2 hours for a little over 200$ on the 7 person power boat.  We were told that the smaller (cheaper) boat had to be back by 1pm due to it's lower power so we went with the second smallest boat.  

    Overall experience on the actual boat was amazing.  There was no experience necessary to drive the boat.  Directions were clear enough to navigate and explore on your own.  The boat was clean, spacious, and operating it was simple.  They allow you to bring anything on the boat, including alcohol.  Our picnic turned out to be a Saturday afternoon well spent and I would recommend this to everyone!  There were families, groups of friends, and couples.  It works with all sorts of parties!  

    The downside of this place (hence the 3 stars) is how busy and unorganized it can get.   The boats are reserved close to each other, meaning that if the previous boat comes back late,every reservation after that is late.  This is what happened to us---we ended up leaving the dock a lot later than our reservation.  Luckily, we had no plans after so it was okay but I can only imagine how upset people can get.  

    Overall, once we were out at sea everything was great.  Just be prepared to the craziness that might happen before.

    Visiting Marina del Rey Boat Rentals should be on everyone's to do list who visits or lives on the Westside.  My friends and I have made it a habit to take out the Duffy for birthdays and special occasions.  It is so relaxing with beautiful views of the marina.  You can even make your way out to Killer Shrimp and dock for a cocktail and snacks.

    As someone who has rented from Marina del Rey Boat Rentals several times, I can say with much certainty that any staff I have encountered are friendly and professional.  Mark, the owner, genuinely cares about everyone's safety and experience.

    I have tried out other boat rental companies, but nothing compares to Marina del Rey Boat Rentals.  The boats here are gently used and newer models, so you can have an optimal experience and get the most value for your money.

    See you this weekend- my husband and I will be coming to kayak. :)

    A definite "must do" when in LA!  We took the boat out for a sunset cruise and Mikey the boat captain gave a great tour of the marina and its history. His timing was perfect as he navigated us to the prefect spot to watch the most glorious sunset.  Favorite pictures from our girls weekend were the ones Mikey took of us with us as the sun set on another fun filled day in Los Angeles.

    We returned the next day for Paddle Boarding. We had quite a large group and a wide range of experience. We were given great instruction from beginner to experienced. Such fun to be out of the water and have an up close experience with sea lions frolicking around.  The boards and equipment were great quality as well.

    Fun location too. We decided to toast our fun with some live music and margaritas right up the dock.

    We will definitely be back for jet ski's on our next visit. I only wish they had a company like this when I lived in LA. Probably would have been my regular hangout.

    I just had the most fun time EVER renting a jet ski from this place. They were extremely professional and took the rules very seriously which was fine with me. We had to arrive 30 minutes early to go over the rules on a video which made me feel like this place was legit and extremely safe. They will take a deposit on your credit card but that makes total sense. I never knew jet skiing was so fun. I live in Santa Monica and had never considered the activity. My friend asked me to go and I'm hooked. Seriously worth it. I went for 1.5 hours but spent a good majority jumping off the jet ski swimming in the ocean. Next time I would go for 2 hours. I want to go again tomorrow!!!! Making a rez right now. Make a Rez! This place is busy because it rocks.

    My HORRIBLE Experience with Marina Del Rey Boat Rentals.

    On July 10, 2015, we rented a boat here. The owner tried to scam us out of $4K claiming we had done damage to his boat/engine.

    He yelled, stomped, threatened to sue us, asked what I did for a living (including asking if I was a lawyer), and called the cops to be there in case I got violent (which, incidentally, he did while we were being towed back to the docks after our engine died on the water).

    As the owner climbed in the boat he felt the engine and said it was "very, very hot" and that he "wouldn't be surprised is this $18K motor was ruined." He then proceeded to remove the top cover, feel the engine and pronounce the extreme heat again, and said that he was "99.9% sure" I had run over kelp in the ocean and it had been sucked into the engine and ruined the water pump. I informed him that I had plenty of boating experience, and always keep a close eye out for kelp and any visible debris.

    He said it might not be what he suspected, but he was very sure it was. He then proceeded to run through a very complete list of all I would be held responsible for: Repairing the engine, covering his staff labor cost, removing/towing the engine to a distant city where the repairs would be made, and, pay the lost full day rental revenue for the weekend (3 days) he would have otherwise received if the boat was in service. I told him I would not do that at all, that I followed every rule they gave me and had not run over any kelp.

    He then asked me to go to the kiosk while he "wrote up the damages." I walked to the kiosk, with the law enforcement officer silently walking a few paces behind me. The owner said he would charge me $3971.40 total, not including the $346 rental fee which he was also going to charge me in full. I told him I did not agree and would not pay at this time, other than the for the time I used the boat while it was operational (approximately 1 hour).

    On the repair estimate he stated "What caused damage? Engine overheat due to kelp wrapped around lower unit" even though there was no kelp or any debris seen at any time I was on the boat after I inspected it, and three staff members did as well, with two proclaiming the motor and propeller looked "fine." He also didn't find any kelp/debris when he looked at it, but said it probably got dislodged on the tow back.

    The owner then proceeded to explain again why I was liable for these costs and said that the lost rental income would hurt his business and that the weekend was very busy with reservations. He then turned around to make another call related to this issue, and while he did, I took a look at the rental records, wide open and in plain sight 6 inches from me on the kiosk check-in platform. I noticed that there are two identical Grady's ("Grady White 1" and "Grady White 2"), and I also noticed that for the entire weekend, Friday-Sunday, there were a total of 4 reservations between the two boats, not including mine and the renter right before me, each for 1-2 hours, with no overlaps. I would estimate at least 90% of the available reservations slots were empty.

    When the owner got off the phone I challenged his assertion that the weekend was booked. He said he was shortly going to call a few customers to tell them they had to cancel their reservations. I then told him that I saw the reservation book right in front of me and that there were only 4 reservations for the entire weekend from that point forward, and that there was in fact no one he had to call to cancel since his other Grady White would be available to rent. Caught in a lie, he said that actually the rental income loss would be "mostly walk-up reservations- we get a lot of those- especially on the weekend." I then said "so you don't really need to call anyone to cancel right?" He did not respond but jumped back into processing the paperwork related to my rental and writing up my charges. I asked the question again, and he did not respond again.

    He then asked me if I was a homeowner. I told him it was none of his business. He proceeded to explain that if I was a homeowner I could lay these costs off on my homeowners insurance and they would take care of it. He said other customers of theirs had done this, it happens all the time, and it's no big deal. I made no comment.

    He then charged my Citibank MasterCard for $346 (original rental amount), and $3,471.40 in "damages", and informed me the $500 damage deposit would remain on my card to cover the full $3,971.40 claim he was making. The total amount he charged my card was $4,317.40 and I refused to sign. As I was departing the owner made a threat- sign now or he'll charge me more- up to $18K for the engine. I left, disputed the charge to Citibank, and got a full refund of the charges. The owner did not dispute my credit claim to Citibank.

    Let me just say that these reviews scared theeee shit out of me!  I was like super paranoid about making sure everyone in my party arrived like 30 mins early so that we had enough time to do everything (they didn't get there on time..and there was actually paperwork that u need a tad bit of time to fill-out...friends? Who needs them lol).  Anyway.

    Mark the owner Immed started helping me once I arrived--he tried to go over everything with me in a quick fashion to assure that we were given all of our time for using the boat.  He explained everything--meaning how to get to and fro within the marina--and made me a little map and everything lol.  I sound real elementary and special right now...but I'm a grad student and have no interest in adding marks boat to my debt collection.  Anyway--once the only was settled--another employee helped us onto the boat and explained everything to us--u already know I had a lot of questions lol--but he had no problems answering them.

    All in all--this was an excellent experience--I rented the gray white (I think that's the name)--the Bluetooth and speakers worked perfectly and the boat was awesome--perfect way to kickoff my Birthday celebration!

    I'll def be coming back to visit you Mark...so remember me!!!

    0 stars. I booked a boat reservation 2 weeks in advance for the 4th of July for 3 hours, they took my credit card information over the phone. We get there 20 min early and not only can they not find our reservation but they tell us NOW for the first time that we will not be driving the boat as we normally have done alone, but we will have a stranger onboard guiding us for the fireworks. Why wasn't this information not told to us over the phone? Because nobody would book knowing that. Who wants to pay 600$ to watch fireworks with your spouse while a stander sits beside you unexpectedly?
    The guy who was checking us in did not seem to care at all, he laughed and was not apologetic at all.
    We ended up walking away and making other plans that didn't involve this place.

    Unacceptable customer service.

    Unsure why there are so many bad reviews, but I can't give this place anything less than five stars and superb customer service!

    Called early this morning to make reservations for a sailboat. The friendly staff said they had some availability and had to give them a credit card to hold my reservation. They told me the terms of the reservation and the hold on the credit card for incidentals. I decided an hour later I actually wanted a motor boat and they were very accommodating with it. Was also told to arrive 30 minutes prior so they may go over rules and regulations.

    Got there a little bit over the 30 minutes prior arrival time but was ok, still they were all very friendly upon arrival. Our guest assistance was very good at explaining the proper functions of the vessel and made it easy for me to properly handle the vessel.

    I will definitely be using their rentals again! The staff and selection of water crafts are amazing and made my daughter's day perfect!

    It's summer! WHOO! With such great weather, my friend and I came to this business know exactly what we wanted to do, paddle board for 1hr. We found this parking lot pretty easily since it was the only lot with a pay station. Parking was easy and the place wasn't hard to find after strolling around the dock for a bit. There were a TON of people waiting in line on this fine sunny day, but it moved quickly and we finished our transaction in less then 1 min. Waiver was signed, money was paid, and paddle boards were provided. BAM!

    Both my friend and I had an amazing experience. Would definitely recommend since the location and pricing was more reasonable compared to other rental spots.

    - 1hr is $25, but we decided to go with the 1.5 hrs for $35 (or $34?)
    - You need a valid ID for them to hold onto while you paddle
    - Newbies and experienced people can paddle. They'll give you a quick and FREE tutorial if you'd like.
    - Get your parking ticket validated for FREE parking for 2HRS (YAYYY!)
    - There are quite a few boats, so stay around the edges.
    - HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THE FAT SEA LIONS :D

    They are the nastiest most unprofessional people we met! Their customer service sucks and since they are the only boat rental in Marina they don't give a damn about costumers! We had planned our day to rent a motor boat but they terminated our rental immediately . They claimed we did not follow the instructions but we did exactly as they said. We asked for more instructions but the owner said he prefers to lose customer . He is very rude. My suggestion is not to do business with them. Drive to long beach or balboa island for better experience. By the way the owner is racist!

    As this was my first time on a jet ski I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff was very friendly, professional and knowledgable and helped me feel confident riding a jet ski. Before we were allowed to ride they  provided us with guidelines that we needed to review, memorize and then were quizzed on in order to make sure we understood the rules of the waterway and jet skis. This is so important as you want to make sure your not only having fun but your safe as well! Once on the jet ski I had a blast! It was so much fun being in the open water and riding around.

    Whether you live in the area or are just visiting,I highly recommend coming here. You will have an amazing experience. I can't wait to go back again!

    What started out as a wonderful birthday outing for my wife ended on a sour note. First off, let me say that the employees are great. Alex checked us in and she was super friendly. The boat was a half hour late in coming back from the previous renters, but whatever...we took it all in stride. That's not something they can really control. We treated the boat safely and responsibly for our 2 hours and had a great time. But things went downhill fast when we returned in. My buddy was gently easing the boat back to the dock, but the waves were throwing him off and he had to back out to get a better angle. But when he put it in reverse, we heard someone freaking out on the dock. It was the owner and he was hurling a steady stream of invectives and jumping up and down like Daffy Duck. Yelling about how we're going to have to buy him a new boat, and how the transmission is completely shot and other such drama. And the insane rant continued after we docked safely and exited the boat. The employees and other customers could only watch with a "is this really happening?" look on their faces. Some of the staff even apologized with barely concealed embarrassment. I guess this isn't the first time.

    So he yells at Alex to check out the boat and make sure that it is PERFECT! Seriously? The thing is like 15 years old. Of course nothing was wrong with it but he's still going on about how my buddy is never going to rent here again. As if we would seriously consider that a good idea. But remembering all of the horror stories I read here about him cheating people out of their deposits, I decided that engaging with a lunatic who is holding on to your 500 bucks would not be productive. And so now I can only warn you to stay away from this angry little man and look elsewhere for your boating needs.

    They have kayaks, paddle boards, and water bicycles (I don't know the proper name for them). Very nice staff, good rates, parking, and easy to find.
    Paddling around the marina is fun and relaxing. Great for first time kayakers or those like myself who have only done it a few times. I'm looking forward to trying paddle board soon.

    DO NOT GO HERE. We had an appointment for two jet skis at 9:30 am, and we were told AND received a text message that we were supposed to arrive at 9 am. Well guess what? We show up at 9 and no one is there to be found! At 9:30, a woman shows up to open the door and we have to wait an additional 10 minutes. The business apparently opens at 10 am, so why would they book us for a 9:30 am appointment and tell us to be here at 9? Also, the employee, a woman, did not seem to care and was not aware of how upset we were. She didn't seem to know what was going on, and it is a very unorganized business. They also charged us with a 1400 dollar deposit for two jetskis. I repeat, DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I am writing this review as we leave the place. Next time I vacation all the way from the east coast it will NOT be with marina del ray boating company. Complete scam and unprofessional.

    Rented a jet ski from here and had an awesome time.  They got us quickly through the training, so we were able to spend the full hour on the water.  The jet ski was in perfect shape and looked brand new.  When we brought it back, the employee who checked us in was friendly and helpful.  I will definitely be doing this again soon!

    Ok, so you might be looking through these reviews and see a lot of 1 star or 2 star reviews. And you also might be thinking, ok the customer service won't be so good. Big deal. I'll take the boat, enjoy myself, and give it back, right? That's what I thought. But let me warn you its so not worth it. The guy who runs the place is SO RUDE!
    We showed up a half hour early as instructed. But it took 55 minutes till we actually started driving.
    He told us WE were unorganized and therefore we were eating from our time that we already paid for. Now until you hit the ocean from the marina, you can only go 5mph. Getting to the ocean and back takes 15 minutes each way. So you lose a half hour of fun. Now we only paid for an hour. So we had about 5 minutes in the ocean to actually drive this boat... so we were pretty pissed. Then we came back, and we thought whatever, we will just leave without making any problems. But then the guy says to us that we were very unorganized, and it's our fault bla bla bla. And therefore he's putting us on the "do not rent" list. That was it. We said, please do us a favor and put us on that list. We're not coming back.  And he says "well  you know what? I'm not gonna validate your parking!"
    (Validating the parking makes the parking for the first 2 hours free, and it's part of the deal.) So we told him that he can't do that. And he responded by calling the cops to kick us off.
    So therefore I warn you. Do not go to this place!!! The reviews are accurate and the horrible customer service will ruin your trip.

    Unfortunately some of these reviews here regarding customer service are correct.
    I rented a Duffy boat last Saturday for a birthday event. The girls who work there are rude and unaccommodating. I think the person who helped me was Alex. If you rent equipment, you must be there 30 minutes in advance to fill out paperwork. If you are 15 minutes early, the time doing paperwork will still be cut into your rental time. I've never heard of such a policy.
    The Duffy boat also had sticky liquid on the tables. No one cleans these boats.
    I won't be coming back here again.

    These people were very rude with me and my friends. We went there with a group of 8 to rent jet skis. They were treating us like little kids. They spoke rudely to us. They were racist because one of us wanted to cancel and wanted to charge us 50% fee to cancel even though no one told us that. The owner was racist to my friend. Go enjoy their stupid company

    Had such a great time on The Duffy with my friends.  Staff here was amazing and made everything so easy for us so we could just spend all day relaxing.  I would and have recommended my friends to come here for other activities they offer on a hot summer day.  Beautiful view from the pier especially once the sun is setting.  If you want to explore California this would be a great idea.

    Worst expirience ever. First of all they have not warned me about the rough see when I rented the Jet Ski. They should have at least mentioned it to me when they saw that I took a small child with me age 6. When I returned the boat early they claimed I drove above 5mph inside the Marina and that they will charge me a $500 fee for speeding even though they had no proof whatsoever. The owner offered me to only charge me $250 if I sign the credit card slip. I would have agreed if the cost guard ticketed me for speeding if they had proof but a boat rental? Can a car rental charge you for speeding without getting pulled over? This place seems to get a lot of bad reviews. But I also see a lot of phony 5 star reviews which seem suspicious. I will pursue the ownership of this rental and report them to the coast Guard for renting without even checking the children's ages, not warning about bad weather and attempting to charge speeding tickets for $500. Never again.

    Rented a 7 person boat for two..roomier and better ride out on the pacific for not much more $$$.  The entire experience from setting up the rental to instruction to quality and cleanliness of the boat were really top notch.  No surprises just arrive as scheduled and set sail shortly thereafter.  Already planning my next day out !

    One of the only places in LA that offer a great experience in boat rentals!

    We came as a family outing and rented a speed boat to cruise along Marina Del Rey & Santa Monica. We spotted several sea lions & dolphins!

    My husband and I were going through Cabo withdrawls, and this experience brought back a small piece of it :)

    Would absolutely return again.

    Before our reservation, we were texted In a group message a reminder from the rental company. In the message you could see the phone numbers of all the other customers with reservations. I found this very unprofessional and a huge infringement of privacy.

    We had called in four times before arriving at the rental place to confirm details and ask questions. Not once during those four times did any of the staff inform us that we would not be able to leave the marina during our reservation bc the boat isn't allowed out after 1. Meaning we would be going 5 mph for our 2 hr reservation. We obviously wanted to cancel but since it was a busy day they had nothing else available. We were upset that our plans were completely sidetracked but wanted to give them an opportunity to make things right. We spoke with Mike the manager who we told we would happily take a voucher for another day. He was dismissive, rude, and even said he had a hard time believing that no one told us the boat could not go out after 1. I can't believe he questioned our honesty when we were truly just wanting to leave with a better impression of them. I can't even bring myself to support this local business that clearly doesn't care about their customers' satisfaction.

    I have been coming here for years and everytime it is a great experience. I have rented the Jet Ski's 3 different occasions. I have rented a boat with friends on one occasion. And then I have done the paddleboarding another time.  This place is popular and always very busy especially during the summer. So my friends and I always make sure we arrive 30 minutes early to fill out the paper work and make sure we understand the rules and restrictions.

    The Jet Ski's' are so much fun! Jennifer checked us in for the Jet Ski's and explained all the rules. She made it clear that the law only permits us to go less than 5 mph while in the harbor and once out into the ocean we can increase our speed. She also explained that it's important not get closer than 50 yards of another jet ski or boat (to prevent collisions) and that we must stay 500 yards away from the shore. She was really nice and cool. If we didn't understand something like how far 500 yards is, she gave us examples and details to make sure we understood. She also gave us zip lock bags for our iphone since we wanted to take them on the jet ski but we stored them in the front compartment so our phones would not get wet. She also explained the rules for holding a deposit on my credit card in case of any damage. The other staff person at the jet ski did a great job teaching us how to operate it. For me is wasn't my first time but my girlfriend never did it before and she was able to pick up on all the instructions instantly. The guy went over pervious damage on the jet ski and recorded it to ensure we weren't liable for it. After that we were good to go! We headed out and had an awesome time on the water. We were out at sea for 45 minutes and still had time to head back to the harbor and make it back in time. The staff also helped us dock the jet ski since we were a bit nervous about how to dock it without using the gas or running into the dock. Very helpful! The guy also put up with us for another 10 minutes while we took our selfies on the jet skis and took group photos.

    Renting a boat was awesome as well! My friend operated the boat but before we left all the rules and instructions were explained throughly. My friend was not an experienced boat driver so he asked as many questions as he needed to until he felt comfortable and confident. Taking the boat out was amazing! We were even able to extend our time on the boat and pay the extra fee but it was well worth it. The owner was very pleasant upon our renten and helped us dock the boat correctly. He was very accommodating and wanted to make sure we had a great experience.

    Paddleboarding was pretty cool too. We went over there one day without booking anything in advance and of course they were all booked up for the day but the paddle boards were available. It is a great activity if you want to do something more active and get a bit a of a work out while doing it. It's also inexpensive but the perfect quick water activity. The waves were also really rough that day so it was best to do the paddleboarding in the harbor instead of taking a boat out on the sea on that windy day.

    Overall, the service is great and it gets better over the years! Everytime I come back they are always improving their service, inventory, and experience. All my friends that have joined me always end up coming back for other occasions and bring their friends and family.  It is simple read the rules before your rent, follow the instructions, and have fun!

    I'm sorry if you're reading these reviews after you've already had a terrible experience with this place. The bad reviews are all true about their customer service. People are coming here for a relaxing and fun experience. Alex, the customer service rep that assisted us was so rude and unwilling to help. I asked if their damage deposit policy of $750 was on their website or anywhere written and she said no. I then asked if I could have something in writing saying they won't charge me  unless there are damages. She was unaccomadating. Also they make you sign a blank check which is very shady. They say they will shred it if you don't damage the jet ski but there is nothing on the paper stating that. You just have their word. The worst customer service experience I've ever had. I won't be coming back on my next trip to LA.

    dont go to these cheaters. we got a jet ski and they change signed document  inspected receipt(s) package once we left them the in their office. Then they staple a new one to the package and say you just signed this and unit is now cracked after you return. Stay away from these crooks. As we took pictures with the unit before getting on the water, they will get a lesson with my legal action. Just stay away!!!

    We are regulars at MDR Boat Rentals! The Duffy boats are an awesome experience for kids and friends!! The owner is great and always helpful staff!! Highly recommend for and enjoyable time on the water!

    PARKING IS FOR FREE. Get your card stamped and you don't pay for parking.

    This was a great experience today. No need for reservation or anything. We did paddleboarding for 1 hour. It's $25 and for 1,5 hours it was $35 something.

    Its worth it. My first time playing with sea lions. While you paddling on your board the sea lions will get really really close to you. I could even pet one.

    Damnnnn that was an experience. But they are huge. Don't be scared if they bite you haha. And I was lazy to put sunscreen on my back so one hour and your skin will look like a burned chicken. Put sunscreen on !

    The employees were wonderful but unfortunately the owner is a loose canon. We arrived early on my birthday like we were told and waited for a 1/2 and hour for our boat to return as our food baked in the hot sun. It was my birthday and we all took it in stride. We piled our young children and ourselves into the boat and had a great time until we returned.
    My friend was driving the boat and attempting to bring her in when all we can hear and see is the owner jumping up and down like Rumpelstilskin screaming profanities at us and telling my friend to "slow the &** down while getting red in the face." Everyone on the dock looked in shock as did we. Look, I get he values his boat over the people that our in it but to yell at paying customers like a cop suffering from PTSD is just beyond not ok. We received no apology for the tardiness of the other boat or his abusive behavior. We watched as he continued to mistreat his employees yelling and snapping at them. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE BY EMPLOYEES, ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE BY OWNER. He needs help.

    Our dear friend coordinated a birthday boat cruise for his wife, and we were excited for our families to hit the water. We had a fun time out at sea, but upon coming back, the owner started SCREAMING at my husband who was steering the boat in.  At first I thought it was a joke until I realized he was furious.  I had no idea what the problem was (we approached slowly) and he was barking if my husband didn't stop what he was doing, he was going to have to BUY HIM A NEW BOAT!  My kids were scared and his employees were so embarrassed (I felt bad for them, they apologized profusely and it's obvious they are totally used to his insane outbursts - in fact, I saw one of them saying something to the effect of "you don't have to yell at them like that".)  Even some strangers witnessing the whole thing came up to us after and said what happened was so wrong.  This is without a doubt the worse customer service I've ever received in my entire life, and this is the first bad Yelp review I've ever written.  Generally, I like to praise people, but maniacs like this guy cannot go unchecked.  He continued to yell at my husband after we got off and told him he could never drive his boat again (like we'd want to come back).  I assume most people renting boats probably aren't expert boatsmen (my husband has boated a lot during his life, however), so I'm not sure why he is in this business of renting his boats out to well-meaning strangers if he expects only an expert job steering the boat in.  It was a bummer to end the experience and tarnish my friend's birthday with the owner's clear anger management issues overwhelming what would have been a great day out at sea.

    We rented from these guys a few times everybody is super nice and left the boats it's not too expensive as well. On a beautiful sunny day traveling up the channel it is so relaxing. We are planning on doing it again for Father's Day this year.

    Loved this place and the fast service. Get there before 10am and you can get $15 off per hour, for me, that was $30 discount. I took out the 130 whaler and just had an amazing time.

    I would definitely call ahead to reserve and show at least 15 minutes before your time out. Just keep in mind that this a family owned business, so they don't have too many power boats to rent.

    Will be coming back for the bigger boats next time.
