She’s certainly earned the best education; her family just can’t afford it. In a riotous twist and momentary lapse of good sense, Ed volunteers his “top-of-the-range” Audi, complete with his services as driver. There are high jinks galore as perhaps one-too-many gastrointestinal problems arise, but, in all, the trip, with what Ed perceives as its terrifying “boundarylessness,” delivers on its promise, just not in the way anyone anticipated. Moyes does a majestic job of conjuring a cast of characters who are charismatic, credible and utterly compelling Independent on Sunday Moyes is the queen of the classy weepy and this won't disappoint. A masterclass in story-telling that fans of Me Before You will adore Elle

Jojo Moyes' words are bullets, and she shoots them straight into your heart.
One Plus One is an absolutely exhilarating novel. Equal parts moving, heartbreaking, hopeful and hilarious, it's a smart and memorable story about one untypical family and their journey to happiness. A journey that includes a painfully slow road-trip to Scotland in a car with a rude boss, two kids and one huge, smelly dog.
Two people. Two completely different worlds. What do they add up to?
Jess' life is as far from easy and privileged as you can imagine. Her husband, depressed because of his steady stream of bad decisions resulting in a complete financial fiasco, went away to spend a couple weeks at his mom's. That was two years ago. With two kids to provide for - one not even her own - and a whole load of other problems (including, but not limited to, bully neighbors, rude employers, and constant lack of money), Jess works her ars off at two jobs. She's one tough gal, she never gives up, always bounces back, no matter what obstacles land in her path. But even this short and feisty Erin Bronkovitch-like woman is not unbeatable. She can't always "sort things out", though God knows she tries her best.
Ed is a disaster of a whole different kind, and kind of of his on making. He's not exactly filthy rich, though he's definitely on the other end of the spectrum from Jess. His job is hugely profitable, he works alongside his best friend, his high-end home is regularly cleaned - and guess who is the cleaner? - and the only thing that he seems to be missing in his life, is love. Why is this getting such high rating? Why is it that Jojo Moyes is super popular & everyone wants to read & buy all of her books? Well because she made me cry with her beautiful writing & touching story.
This was my first book by Moyes & I didn't really know what to expect. But right when I read first chapter, I knew I would be hooked. You have your unique but somewhat regular family. Jess is a single mother with two kids, her ex husband left 2 years ago and she's trying to meet ends. Her daughter Tanzie is brilliant! She gets offered a scholarship into private school but there is still a charge that needs to be paid off. When Jess tries to take her to Olympiad in hopes that the winnings could cover the tuition, Jess ends up going on a roadtrip with Ed, an attractive stranger who steals her heart.
Now that I'm trying to write this review, I'm already missing Jess and her children. I thought it was genius to have the book written from everyone's POVs because it definitely made me connect with everyone more. I loved everyone. Jess, Ed, NORMAN!, Nicky, Tanzie. EVerything about this book made me happy. Their conversations were funny, thoughtful, and Jess's optimism wasn't over the top. Typically I don't like books are that too sweet but Jess got some wittiness to her & Ed definitely had his flaws that made me love him even more.

One Plus One by Jojo Moyes is a superbly crafted story which is a pure joy to read. After reading The Girl You Left Behind, The Last Letter From Your Lover, Me Before You and several others, it's almost impossible to imagine she could come up with something as spectacular and extraordinary as this. Yet, One Plus One proves that Jojo Moyes is still to attain her creative best, and a magnum opus is still in the offing.
Her latest offering is undoubtedly one of her best to date. It is a story that will blow you away with its simplicity and beauty. It is the story of Jess, a single parent, who is struggling hard to make both ends meet. She has two children - her daughter Tanzie, who is just eight, and her stepson, Nicky, who is a teen. They are amazing kids but with their own imperfections.
When Tanzie is offered the opportunity to gain a scholarship to the school of her dreams, Jess works hard to seize the chance. But in the process she fumbles leading to slip-ups and what follows is a rollicking disaster of imposing magnitudes - ensuing in a journey of a lifetime and the opportunity to change all their lives. Will Jess take control of the situation or will she let it slip by?
One Plus One is also the story of Ed whose life is falling apart at its seams. When a chance encounter brought them together, he is well aware that Jess and her two kids are the last things he needs. But he is drawn into their world, plunging his own into a deeper abyss. Yet, he is determined to help them out.
The book is emotionally poignant, yet it will make you laugh and scream in delight as you turn the pages. It is beautifully written as only Joio Moyes can, with the characters and their emotions reaching deep down into your heart, touching every part of your being. One Plus One is every reader's delight and every writer's envy.
