More About the Author

Laurelin Paige is the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today Bestselling Author of the Fixed Trilogy. She's a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there's kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn't seem to complain, however. When she isn't reading or writing sexy stories, she's probably singing, watching Game of Thrones and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She's also a proud member of Mensa International though she doesn't do anything with the organization except use it as material for her bio.

You can connect with Laurelin on Facebook at www.facebook.com/LaurelinPaige or on twitter @laurelinpaige. You can also visit her website, www.laurelinpaige.com, to sign up for emails about new releases and a chance to win a Kindle Paperwhite in a monthly drawing.

I struggled with this review. I'm going to try to be as honest as possible with NO SPOILERS since I'm one of the early reviewers. FYI, I rate the Fixed trilogy as 5 stars.

Hudson is extremely well written and well conceived but there are a few issues with it that I think are caused by the fact that this is a stand alone book.

The book is told from Hudson's perspective but it clearly relies on the readers knowledge of the events from the trilogy. In an apparent effort to avoid redundancy in retelling the complete story told in the trilogy, the author bypasses several events from the series that were significant. If this had been done in the trilogy by interspersing Hudson's perspective with Alayna's throughout the chapters, it might not have been as problematic. Doing it in a separate book had the effect of making the book, at times, appear to skip like a scratched CD jumping from one event to the next without logical transitions. You have to remember, Alayna's story is told in 3 books but we get all of Hudson's reactions and thoughts about 3 books worth of material in one book.

Additionally, the entire book is not about Hudson's relationship with Alayna, about half of the book is about Hudson's past. So that leaves the reader with about 150 pages of Hudson's perspective of events that took place over an entire trilogy. To get the whole story condensed into that tight space, the author often foregoes describing events and just describes Hudson's thoughts and impressions about the events. The descriptions of Hudson's thoughts are well articulated. The problem is that it can get a bit redundant. I have to admit that I had to resist the urge to skim more than once because the whole "I feel but I can't feel" thing with Hudson was starting to wear thin.

This book should have been titled Celia and Hudson, and it would be appropriate, because that's all it is. All we get is the history and background of Celia and Hudson, with random women ( and ) men thrown in. By the 90% of the book, I saw a Hudson that is manipulated and dominated by Celia. As a matter of fact this woman has the last word in their breakup. My heart went out to Alayna. Hudson might pick up down the road with Celia when he decides he needs excitement in his life. Seriously.

The Hudson I met in the trilogy, though not a saint was 'the man'. This Hudson is a wuzz. I wish I had not read his story, now I cannot unread it.

Honestly, I was bored most of the time. It was good to read his side and the tidbits we got from his past helped fill in Some holes but for the most part we already knew half of it. There was nothing really to suck you in.

This book felt more like Hudson professing his love over and over again to Celia not only in the chapters before but the ones after Alayna. From the feelings he shared to the growing regret of the things he did to Celia including cutting her out of his life. It was a little pathetic. Not to mention his constant demand for trust when he was hiding very serious secrets from the person giving him her trust. How he thought he not only earned it but deserved it is beyond me. Good idea but kind of a waste of money not enough time spent on his relationship with Laynie and to much time spent on his with Celia in an already condensed book compared to a trilogy. Overall rating it 2 stars because I found myself skimming.

Let me start out by saying, Hudson Pierce. That’s right ladies; one of the most fantabulously sexy, alphas men ever to grace our presence is back... Hold onto your panties...

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, one of my all time favorite couples are back in this new novel by the glorious and fantabulous, Laurelin Paige. From the moment I began the journey into the Fixed series I have been captivated, stalking / fan girling over Laurelin Paige, so it goes without saying that when she told me, she was writing another book for the series, I was flailing and squealing like a 13 year old girl at a One Direction concert.

Beginning Hudson it became apparent pretty quickly that even though I have read and re-read the entire Fixed series many times, Alayna’s and Hudson’s story was not yet finished and I didn’t actually know the whole story, in fact we had just scratched the surface. In writing Hudson, Laurelin Paige not only gives us more of what we have been begging her for, as crazy, overzealous fans, but also another full length novel told entirely from H’s perspective. Perspective is key in Hudson, because it is truly and totally amazing what a difference it makes in an already unforgettable and beloved story. I was completely enthralled by how each person’s point of view alters, how you see characters you have already fallen in love with, you now see them in an entirely new way. The way H sees Laynie, is beautiful, but it’s his unwavering need to protect her is what made my heart both swell and ache. He has in truth, done some truly horrible things in his past, and he’s been quite a DB in the past, but my love for H, is very much like Laynie’s, it’s unconditional. I adore them both, flawed, a little broken, and strong.
