Best Acadia map

We are long-time visitors to Acadia and were happy to (finally) find the perfect map this year. Both local roads and trails are clearly marked, so it's a helpful guide when driving and hiking. The protective coating is a huge plus, since it makes the map waterproof and keeps it from tearing after multiple foldings. I have loaned this to two groups of friends and it still looks the same as when we bought it!

Map Adventures Rocks in Trail Maps

I never realized just how good this company was at making trail maps until I had to use a National Geographic trail map in another national park. I wish Map Adventures had trail maps of ALL the national parks. A lot of thought and planning went into this map. The scales of 1:45000 (whole island) and 1:25000 (east side of the island) are perfect for hiking. It gives a lot of detail and you actually feel like you are making progress when you hike. The shading clearly shows what is Acadia National Park and what is private land. The coloring for hiking trails vs. carriage roads vs. auto roads is easy to distinguish. The icons are intuitive. The mountains are all marked. There is a ton of other information without the map seeming clutterd. This map has now made it through three trips to Acadia and is holding up strong in spite of lots of abuse and weather. OK, I'm a map nerd, but I can't say enough good things about this map. Buy it!

Durable, large scale, distances between trail points, easy to read, helpful trail summaries. I don't have anything negative to say about this map. At Acadia NP HQ they had all of the other maps sold online. I had already purchased this one so was curious to compare it with the other ones available. After doing so I still think this one is the best. It is also the one the the park HQ stocks the most so I am guessing they like it the most too.

Good But Incomplete

This is a good map of the portions of Acadia on Mount Desert Island. However, it does not cover other areas of the park such as the Schoodic Peninsula and Ilse au Haut. So, I believe the title of the map "Acadia National Park Trail Map" is a bit misleading.

The map is a very good resource to help explore Mount Desert Island and we referred to it extensively during a recent trip to Acadia. It was very helpful as we planned excursions to explore the area and scout for good locations to hike and take photographs at sunrise and sunset. As others have said, it has good quality and is durable.

I would recommend this map to anyone wanting to explore the parts of Acadia on Mount Desert Island and would also recommend supplementing this map if your plans include hiking/exploring beyond the island.
