I love DK Top Ten for the essential "need to know" stuff. I've used this one in both the print and the Kindle versions. For maps and for ease of locating specific city sites I prefer the print version (maybe because I'm more accustomed to finding thing using a printed index). The Kindle version navigates pretty well but you need to be in the head of the programmer. Sometimes I find the "logic" of the search process a little tricky. Still, the convenience of having multiple resources on my Kindle instead of carrying the heavy books is really great.

I love Eyewitness books! Over the past year, I have been living and teaching in Madrid, Spain. During my free time, I love to travel. I have bought four Eyewitness Top 10 books, and I can't say enough good things about them. The Berlin guide is the fourth Eyewitness book I have bought, and it did not disappoint. The Top 10 layout provides a quick reference guide of everything there is to see. Also, they all come with a small, yet easy to read map and metro map that fits in my purse. It is extremely handy. This is also the first time I have used the book's suggestions for restaurants and bars, and all were great. I will continue to buy the Top 10 guides for future trips.

I first discovered the Eyewitness Guides years ago when I was visiting London. I quickly realized that this is the best series of guidebooks, and this Top 10 version of Berlin confirms that opinion for me.
There are plenty of pictures, but also very clear descriptions of what you are likely to want to visit. There are the usual foldout maps, but also a portable version that includes top 10 lists in case you want to walk around without the book itself.
The book is divided into categories - hotels by budget, restaurants, sites, shopping, districts in Berlin, great walks, fun places for children, entertainment, etc., etc. The Top 10 version is, of course, smaller than the full guide, but probably all you could want if you actually DO want to walk around with the book. The information on how to get around, what is contained in each museum, etc. is just what a visitor to Berlin wants to know.
I love this series, because it has something for everybody and makes it clear what it is you are going to see and how to get there without driving you nuts with extraneous detail. Give it a try!
