Book Description

Amber Portwood is famous for her shocking behavior on the MTV reality shows 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom. But the wild outbursts, drug abuse, suicide attempts and jail stints are only part of the story. Never Too Late is a brutally honest account of how the sarcastic teen from Indiana nearly lost everything to depression and addiction, and found herself just in time to change her life.

About the Author

Amber Portwood is a larger than life personality, famous for her shocking behavior on the MTV reality shows, 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom. Her most challenging moments in life were caught on TV, which included partying, drugs, legal battles, and ended with a seventeen month sentence in prison; but Amber found the strength to save her life, rekindle her relationship with her family, and reinvent herself. After a controversial stint in prison, Amber has been rehabilitated and is focused on being a great mom, going to college and building her career around helping others with substance dependencies. She lives in Anderson, Indiana, close to her daughter Leah.

This book was amazing. I have no idea what the other reviews are talking about with the "no new information" comments. Did we read the same book? There was tons of new info we haven't heard from Amber before. It did ELABORATE on stuff we already knew about but again, it's still new info. We learned plenty of behind the scenes things like what her life was like as a child and teen before MTV, the real extent of her addiction that was kept hidden from us, suicide attempts, withdrawing from drugs in jail, life in prison, more details on her family dynamic, her experience with her father nearly dying and caring for him while recovering, she opens up about sex addiction, partying with paparazzi, and also shares details on relationships we never knew about like with Dan or her rehab boyfriend. There are more examples but really this book is full of new insight and details that we haven't shared and that's part of what makes it so interesting. Is there also stuff we know about? Yes. Of course. We watched her life on TV for years. But to say it's redundant and full of no new info is VERY incorrect.

Amber is EXTREMELY candid in this book and I read it all in one day as I found it so interesting I could not put it down. Yes there are "a million Ambers" as one reviewer said, but that doesn't make her story any less compelling and valid. Same for anyone else with a story like hers. I think the fact that many people can relate to her experiences is a good thing and not a discredit to the book. I truly feel she's trying to be honest about her life and simply share her story in hopes it helps others in some way. She was basically on the brink of death from addiction but she found the will to take extreme measures to help herself and I see no fault in that.

I like Amber, but this book was extremely boring. There wasn't any "juicy gossip" and out of hers, Kailyn, and Farrahs book I enjoyed hers the least.

I skimmed over much of this book because of the repetition. I hope for the best for this young lady, but it will be an uphill battle.

This book truly shed a whole new light on Amber, who I have followed since 16 and pregnant. Wow has she really changed her life around. I loved the book, it even inspired me to start writing. Nice easy read too, I recommend this to anyone.

Amber Portwood is best known to fans of the MTV series Sixteen and Pregnant and Teen Mom. Amber has her new autobiography on the market and is doing well based on sales. What a story she has to tell1 Amber was born in Florida and raised in Anderson Indiana. Her parents were alcoholics who fought in front of the children on a daily basis. Amber s brother escaped the domestic turmoil by joining the United States Army. He served with honor in Iraq. She had a sister who died at the age of two weeks.
Amber grew up as a wild and sarcastic young woman. She dropped out of high school; had a baby when she was sixteen and fought with her fiancée. He was untruthful to her and had a series of girlfriends. Amber sunk deeper into the black hole of heavy drug use, depression and bipolar disease. She first attempted suicide at age eleven and has tried to kill herself on other occasions. She served seventeen months in Indiana State Prison for drug use. She is now clear of drugs and living a productive life living with her grandparents and raising Leah her daughter.
The book is very poorly written awash with almost constant profanity and ungrammatical language. Amber is bright and we hope her future is blessed. A good book to pass along to a young person who is also struggling with drug, alcohol, poor self-esteem and inveterate depression.

I've watched "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" since their beginnings. I sat there slack jawed along with everyone else watching Amber's self destructing antics. I didn't expect much when I began reading this book. I read Farrah Abraham's book (awful) and Kailyn Lowry's book (average to good). I figured Amber's would be there with Farrah's. I was really wrong.

This story is inspirational. I found an Amber who took responsibility for all the horrible things that she did and said, admitted that they were wrong, regrets them and now wants to move on with her life in a mature and positive way. I believe that she did learn and grow up a lot in jail. I do believe that she has finally decided to take control of her life and devote herself to sobriety.

I think it was a great book. I wasn't bored at all. It was not the Amber roller coaster drama, but it was refreshing and insightful. Its about 180 pages. I read it in a couple of days.

I believe this would be interesting to anyone who sat there and wondered what drug was she on and what was she thinking. If you are trying to kick your own habit: drugs, alcohol, shopping, diet, whatever it may be, this book will be an encouragement.

Inspiring, honest and raw. It's good to get in the mind of addiction and really understand the way things are processed and how you feel. This story shares that it's never too late for anyone to make a change!
