Enjoyed the book, hate the cover!

Book 5 in the series introduces, Kiowa, our first coyote breed. When there is a kidnapping attempt on the president's daughter (Amanda), Kiowa steps in to help her. He has to take her to a different location for her safety. To stop her from screaming, he kisses her and starts the 'heat.' As the scientists at Sanctuary are examining Amanda, they do find out some information about the hormones. Kiowa's treatment of Amanda is sweet and it was fun reading as the effects of the 'heat' bring them closer. Cassie is back briefly and we find out a bit more about her. Even reading this the 2nd time makes me smile. I enjoyed this one - again!

    Book Felt a Little Rushed

"Soul Deep" was ok. Not one of Leigh's better stories, but if you enjoy love scenes you will have PLENTY of them to choose from in this novel. However, the story feels incomplete and a bit rushed, although some of Kiowa's (a Native American Coyote breed) backstory is touching. Amanda (his future mate, a non-breed) is the President's daughter, and the president is trying to pass a Breed Law into effect, so they can live like everyone else. Of course, there are detractors, and the book starts off with Amanda's attempted kidnapping from some of them. Good beginning, but starts to accelerate from there, and unfortunately, doesn't fill in some of the blanks as the book goes along. Still, it doesn't detract from the rest of the Breed series. I intend to read them all!

    I Also Recommend:

Don't judge this by it's cover..

This read almost like a short story, only 194 pages. I really enjoy the earlier breed books because the mating heat and it's effects are a mystery to the Breeds. Amanda has been kidnapped, and has both arms and legs bound when she awakens in terror. When she attempts to scream, Kiowa kisses her to silence her but unknowingly unleashes the mating hormone. OMG I think he would have taken her while she was still tied up if they hadn't been interrupted...The effects of the mating heat on Amanda and Kiowa were the most intense of any other couples from previous breed books, and the scene in the back seat of the jeep had me laughing out loud as the driver has to pull over and get out of the car because these two didn't care that they had an audience. LOL

This book was very steamy. There was a sound plot, good character development and a happy ending for a Coyote that had been raised without knowing love.

    A Little Naughty Isn't Bad

And last year, I won Soul Deep from Diane from Book of Secrets The first thing I hit was chapter 1 (well, duh), which happened to be written like a prologue, completely in italics and everything. The information was useful though, if not a bit dry and mislabeled. Seriously? I was a bit apprehensive. Later I discovered even though Soul Deep was the first of the Coyote series, it wasn’t the first of the ENTIRE Breed series. So the upfront information really helped and made Soul Deep a standalone story. Okay… my review might sound a little harsh, but I’m telling you, I really liked this story (4 out of 5 stars). It was just what I was looking for when I went in search of a bit of erotica. My first impression when the sexy got to happening was Amanda was every man’s dream come true. Kiowa pretty much got to do anything to her, and she loved it. Dirty little slut came to mind. I was like, what’s with her? It was like reading a porn movie. Keep in mind, I was looking for erotica, so a little naughty wasn’t a bad thing. Later, I found out why she was behaving the way she was, and it totally reminded me of Shadow Cat with the uninhibited lust due to being in heat. One awesome thing about Soul Deep, the sex scenes were evenly spaced throughout the work rather than clumped together in the center like Shadow Cat. For an up and coming writer like me, Lora Leigh offered an excellent example. So here’s the bottom line. I DEFINITELY look forward to reading more Lora Leigh. Thanks again, Diane!

This story was different and I loved Amanda, she¿s sassy and ver

This story was different and I loved Amanda, she’s sassy and very sure of herself, she wants the simple things in life even after her father became the president. She’s such a cutie. Kiowa was a new Breed for me and I liked getting to know a new coyote. Their mating was a little extreme and they suffered a lot. Kiowa was not raised in the labs but his real family didn’t helped. I liked Cassie and the way she always now the truth, she really helped Kiowa come to terms with his past.

The story was simple and Kiowa needed a little alone time to understnad more of his nature, but I loved how brave Amanda is.

    Fun read!

This is one of the early Breed stories, and I enjoyed it very much. Fast paced and fun, with some very steamy scenes and seeing some old Breed friends in cameo appearances. If you enjoy this series, you'll enjoy this book.

    Not a keeper!

I'm a big fan of Lora Leigh's "Breed series", but unfortunately this book will not be stored in my "favorite" section. I'm kind of disappointed because it lacked the intenseness that her other books exhibit. It seemed the story was based more on kinky sex than adventure.

    Spicy!

This is a spicy book with its sexually heightened scenes. The story behind it was extremely lacking. It was more sexual. But I think she listened to her audience and gave us what we wanted. So far this is the only book I read in the breed series that has more erotic scenes than a prominent story line. I still loved the book but I also love a great romance story. That is why I marked her down one star.

    Other great one

Love Lora Leigh books. I love the breed series. Kiowa just touches your soul and got to love his dominence. He is a strong quiet type that needs the love of a good woman to show him what love is. Slowly working way through the series go to her web site to find lout the order of the series. It helps with understanding about the characters that reappear in the different stories if you read them in order i have discovered. You can read them out of order and understand the story but just makes you what to go back amd find out about the other couples stories.
