CS740 Fall 2005: Schedule for reviews

You are required to write a SHORT paper review for at
least three papers and not more than four.

We will pick your best three scores out of a maximum
of four.

You can write a review for any paper assigned for the
following class days (remember a maximum of four reviews).
Ideally you can choose to write a review for one paper
in each of these days.

Nov 16, Nov 23, Nov 30, Dec 7 (all Wednesdays)

The reviews will be due by the beginning of class,
but you are more than welcome to submit the review
ahead of time. Even a week or two ahead of time 
would be okay.

Summary of instructions:
------------------------
- Each person is required to turn in at least three reviews
in the next few weeks.

- You can pick any one of the papers assigned for
class on the given dates and write a review for the
corresponding paper.

- You are free to discuss the paper with your classmates.

- Each person should write an independent review.

- The review, however, should completely be in your
own words (make sure you do not copy text from
the paper itself).

In the review you should answer the following questions:

1. Provide a short summary of this paper. Indicate what
   the key ideas of the work and main results. Please do
   not copy the abstract.

2. What are the main assumptions being made in the paper?
   Which assumptions, if false, will change the main results
   and findings?

3. What are the main deficiencies in this paper, i.e., what
   issues should the authors have addressed, but did not?

4. Suggest some ways to improve this work, e.g., that improves
   the performance of the proposed system, better ways to 
   validate the system.
