Primates

While at Salem College, I (Amanda) took a January term course called Medical Primatology. My love affair with primates has been going strong ever since. We spent that January studying primatology books, viewing pictures and videos, and visiting area zoos and research centers to learn more about our evolutionary cousins. These days, I'm still hooked and can't get enough of these amazing creatures.

My Experiences With Primates

Besides reading as many primate books as possible and watching documentaries, my non-human primate experience is limited to visiting them in zoos. While it is sad to see primates in captivity, I feel that captivity is a necessary evil for the educational and scientific needs of both humans and the primates in question.
