I
am currently working with Prof.
Remzi Arpaci-Dusseau
and Prof.
Miron Livny, in
the NeST
(Network Storage) project. The objective of the NeST project is to
design and build flexible commodity storage appliances. NeST is a
user-level software-only storage appliance, with various features
that includes, its ability to allow arbitrary data transfer and
authentication protocols, support for multiple concurreny
architectures and ability to use a wide range of physical storage
devices. My contribution to the project involves designing and
implementing an abstract storage interface, that provides reservation
guarantees and different levels of service to the users. Reservations
guarantee both storage space and storage bandwidth. I also
implemented the user and group management module in the NeST.
