I watched this movie long time ago, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
As far as I can remember, the ancestors of these soldiers and other people
from their village were from Russia. I think they also speak a few Russian
sentences in the first half of the movie. BTW, I don't like this movie
much, except for the closing scene. In my opinion, the wedding scene
is overlong. As an interesting fact, this movie was boycotted by the
socialist countries when first shown at the Berlin Film Festival (we all
know why). However, its main theme is extremely popular, and also a
familiar tune for those who begin to play guitar.

What do you think is the best movie related to Vietnam War? Francis Ford
Coppola's "Apocalypse, Now" is my vote.
