Olympic Informatics Contest '97 attracts college students

The Olympic Informatics Contest '97 was organized on
April 27 at the HCMC Technology College with 81 students nationwide
taking part.

The Olympic informatics contest has been held annually since 1992 by
the Vietnam Informatics Association and the Vietnamese Students'
Association with a view to selecting outstanding infor-matics
students and promoting the study of informatics among young people.
This is the first time the contest has been held in HCMC.

Unlike previous contests, this year, in addition to basic knowledge
on informatics, contestants are required to have knowledge about the
country's information technology development in the revolution of
science and technology.

The summing up meeting to grant Olympic informatics prizes was held
on April 28.
