[SRORT] Tennis

  Hi all,

Your messages remind me of the days i tried to learn playing tennis.
First i thought that it's something like table tennis, and who can play
table tennis can also play tennis. But when i started to learn,i was at
sea.It was much more difficult than i expected.

 The first,and i think,crucial thing is how to serve.As an asian,i have
disavantage of being not so high (actually i'm a kind of sort and small
guy), so i needed extra work to serve a ball. How tedious an exercise ! (
Oh,i forgot to say that this was my Gym. at the Uni.).Moreover, you have
to serve to only a half-field diagonally. So the ball both have to be over
the net and go to the intended field. Not so easy, man ! In this sense,i
admire Michael Chang (for not being high but playing so well) and Boris
Becker some years ago for the power of his serve ( his ball was just like
a bullet,indeed)

The second thing is how to smash, slam and drive the ball. The technique
here is how to spend your strength effectively, otherwise you could never
shoot it to the other field or even you might be wounded by the ball due
to its high velocity.
One of my most favorite tennis players is Stefan Edberg when he was in
his heyday. He played gently, but effectively. His opponents always had to
run after his ball like a slave.

Well, just some random thoughts to share with you.

Cheers.
